They’re saying it’s gonna be a feral woman summer. They’re saying if you don’t already know how to devour it might be too late for you. They’re saying the truth will be revealed in the rusty taste of hot blood. And that this just might be the year the moon finally howls back.
Appreciate this thoughtful reply!
Honestly, I would love to live in a world where men who commit violence and evil towards women are punished in a way that is proportionate to the harm they cause.
I saw that NYC body slam video too and was absolutely sickened by it. Under our current legal and cultural regime, there's basically no chance of him facing any meaningful consequences for his actions and he will be given little more than a slap on the wrist for what he did. I find the asymmetry of what that poor girl experienced and the consequences she will experience for the rest of her life versus what her assaulter will experience to be morally sickening, personally, but this is the reality we are currently inhabiting. It really struck me that his mother also had the audacity to publicly claim he was a "victim" of "bullying" from the girl he brutally assaulted. A perfect example to me of the kind of moral inversion that people falsely attempt to assert upon reality in the modern world...
Anyways, I respect that different women have different experiences with men and women, and if the patterns articulated in my tweet or the OPs don't resonate with you, I totally get it. I think both these tweets aren't for everyone, they're more just for the people they're gonna resonate with. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and perspective regardless. 🤍
Nobody polices women’s speech, appearance, or behavior harder than other women too. Which is why it is basically a rite of passage for all free-spirited and non-conformist women to have a deeply painful experience at least once in their life where “kind” women ostracize or attack them with a unique and particularly sadistic brand of socioemotional cruelty.
This is a truth that isn’t really accepted in the cultural mainstream at the moment. Women who have “all of the correct opinions” (you immediately know who I’m talking about here) have an almost pathological denial of reality about the feminine capacity for evil. But the women who have experienced it for themself do not.
I've sat on this for a while but there's a uniquely female element to this, especially regarding how women talk about women's issues and I'm not quite sure how to convey this accurately.
Its like when they talk about not using the bathroom alone or being afraid to walk at night - both of which they blame on men - and frame it as an inherently female experience. Those are just two examples.
But as a woman, I have never had those experiences. I don't feel like I'm constantly scanning for threats or afraid of men I don't know. I'm not actively choosing not to be either, I just don't think that way.
I think there's a real issue with women who are high in neuroticism dominating conversations about female experiences, and if you try to challenge this, they call you a pick me - because they have no theory of mind for someone not being performative but genuinely being less neurotic.
I'm not sure how to fix this issue. I don't want these women speaking for me.
there is a palpable difference between people who prioritize "health / wellness" versus people who prioritize "looks / appearances"
one glows from within, the other does not
excessive introspection is cured—or you might more accurately say brought into a state of balance—by directing energy and action towards the external world. in my own experience, there's nothing more healing than rediscovering just how vast and full of surprises the universe is
i have had conversations with thousands of people at this point over the last 20 years about this particular problem, and observed how it played out for many of them. the answer to 'excess self-awareness' is to redirect your awareness beyond yourself. help people. volunteer. etc
@bronzeageshawty the way groups of people can be more sensitive and insecure than any single human ever could… interesting, I haven’t thought about this dynamic much before but it instantly feels like it explains a LOT of culture and cliques in the modern world
Something about how the spotlights seem to be desperately searching, searching, searching… hungry for something worthy of their gaze so that it may finally linger and rest… all the while, they blot out the stars and night sky…….
local Indian restaurant describes one of their specials as being "stewed in a harem of spices all night" and that honestly one shots me every time and I have to order it
