Covenant dad here. For us, it’s not a choice. It’s what we have to do for our children and to find some semblance of redemption out of this horrible tragedy. Always appreciate your advocacy on this issue @JasonIsbell
The Covenant Parents did their level best to approach the special session in a way they felt would be heard by Republicans, despite many telling them it was a dead end. Over the weeks, their tone grew more frustrated.
Now they are clearly pissed. And they’re not going away.
Covenant families nonprofits breaking out some new shirts today.
House session slated for 2:00p today.
Senate (which will go very fast) at 4:00p.

Our lawmakers in Tennessee should get used to the sound of this sweet song reverberating through the limestone halls of the Capitol. This is the sound of speaking truth in love. @CovBrightTmrws
Covenant parents are counting votes on their hands — and the bill fails on a tied vote 9-9.
Room erupts, and the Covenant parents spontaneously sing the song that ends chapel at the school every morning.
The new Covenant parent nonprofits are here this morning making a statement after Gov. Lee officially called a special session yesterday.
Say they’re glad to see mental health reform and urged lawmakers to take gun reform seriously.
@WKRN#TNLeg23
@ToddGardenhire you point out that we must keep all of our Tennessee children safe - children from all races, places, and creeds. This belief is foundational to us at @CovBrightTmrws. Will you meet with us? Let’s talk solutions together.
This @tnsenategop Senator @ToddGardenhire quote about Covenant parents pushing for common sense Gun laws after their kids were attacked and children were gunned down is divisive and disgusting. Shame on him. https://t.co/B3PCDQxjkc
While coping w/ the aftermath of trauma from the massacre at Covenant, I & other parents have spent countless hrs respectfully meeting w/ ~20 @TNGOP reps/sen who graciously welcomed us to work towards solutions, yet 4m later my own rep @RepOgles still can’t respond to meet. 1/
Parents from about 100 families, the Covenant School and the church will be allowed to formally argue in an ongoing legal fight over whether writings left behind by the shooter can be released, a judge said tonight.

The vast majority of Tennesseans - from all corners of the political spectrum - support reasonable reform to gun laws. It’s about creating a safer state for our children. You don’t get to define this debate any longer.
Signed,
A Covenant dad
The people have the right to see all this information and evaluate the content. The left will use this special session to provoke unrest to accomplish their objective, confiscation of firearms. That is how the Marxists operate, chaos then demand change. https://t.co/pXR1lMS2Rs
What happened in Tennessee is the latest example of a broader erosion of civility and democratic norms. Silencing those who disagree with us is a sign of weakness, not strength, and it won’t lead to progress.
Three kids and three officials gunned down in yet another mass shooting.
And what are GOP officials focused on?
Punishing lawmakers who joined thousands of peaceful protesters calling for action.
It's shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent.
Great catching up with @kramerschmidt When he was a student @Tulane & @trumanscholars, I unsuccessfully tried to recruit him to @ClintonSchool. Highly successful in the business world, Kramer's commitment to public service is as strong as ever.
