Owning Up to Leadership Failures and Political Responsibility
This morning, I listened to the British Prime Minister’s speech announcing his planned resignation in July. As a keen observer of global politics, my primary interest lies in examining what successful nations do right and the structural factors that cause others to lag or struggle with governance and development.
The Prime Minister’s planned resignation comes amid mounting public frustration over a stagnant economy, a worsening cost-of-living crisis, and a perceived failure to honour key campaign pledges.
Looking inward in our dear country, we can recall our own situation. Before 2015, our President on several occasions championed the call for the then President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians. During the Chibok school kidnapping incident, he demanded the immediate resignation of President Jonathan, arguing that the government had failed in its most fundamental duty of protecting lives.
During the 2023 election campaign, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made several promises, including improved electricity supply. He also challenged the electorate not to vote for him for a second term if he failed to deliver on those commitments—particularly in providing stable power, fighting corruption, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
At present, however, these conditions have worsened. Electricity supply remains unreliable, insecurity has intensified in many areas, including kidnappings, and economic hardship has deepened rather than eased. Similar concerns are reflected across other critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, transportation, and anti-corruption efforts, all of which have regressed. We are in the worst possible condition.
I, therefore, join Nigerians of goodwill in calling for the resignation of the President over monumental failure in governance. Such a gesture would help enthrone a political culture rooted in accountability and responsibility, rather than further entrenching impunity. It would also send a powerful message that public office is a sacred trust, not an entitlement, and help build a society in which future leaders understand that failure carries consequences. Only by ending the culture of impunity can we secure a better future for the society our children will inherit in a New Nigeria that is possible. -PO
Moment Peter Obi arrived at the protest ground in Abuja this morning along side other opposition leaders and everyone started chanting Obi Obi Obi !!!🪧
We must pressure the Kaduna State Government (@ubasanius) to release Victor Solomon (Zidane).
Self-defence against terrorists should never result in a death sentence.
@RepRileyMoore please we need your help here

Nigeria Bleeds 💔🇳🇬
• “Another day, another headline, another family crying. When will it end?”
• “How many more must fall before peace rises?”
• “A flag stained with pain, carried with hope.”
• “This is not just a flag… this is a cry for help.”
Pray for Nigeria 🙏
This may be true,
But pictures will help us to trend this
However if this is true, the people concerned should immediately decongest the prison. @Govhopeuzodinma
In the cells at Tiger Base Owerri Imo state there is no space to sit or lie down properly; detainees take turns squatting or sitting. At all times, the cells are overcrowded— far beyond capacity— with more than 100 additional detainees packed on the corridors.
According to testimonies, detainees are unable to sleep. They rotate between squatting, lying down, or standing, often suffering swollen legs and open wounds inflicted through beatings by Tiger Base officers. #TigerBaseOfAtrocities

“The Chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Eugene Cheta Epelle, came to my house on Sunday and confrønted my mother, telling her that her daughter wants to damage his image on social media because of the video I posted showing the dilapidated secondary school in Ahoada West. He said I had insulted his office and then instructed people to beat me right in front of him. If not for the intervention of people around, they would have succeeded in k?ll!ng me.”
— Winnie Miller, the young lady att@cked after sharing photos and videos of a dilapidated secondary school in Ahoada West, Rivers state
I just saw the VIDEO evidence Madam Tracy posted to prove that Dave Umahi owes her.
Umahi claimed he’s never met her but they had met in his office a few times.
This is typical of Nigerian politicians. People will take loans to execute contracts for them and end up in debt!✍️
BREAKING!!! DINO MELAYE DEFLATED THEIR EGO... He gave reasons why having 89 govenors in their midst should not be a yardstick for winning. Peter Obi without a party structure in LP defeated 6 of those APC governors in their states including the home state of the current president. Retweet massively till it gets to the Jagabandits pls.
Happened in plateau state.
