Till now I was thinking, the violence in Manipur was about recognition of Meiteis as ST. But, I was wrong.

The Hilly Tribes are protesting against recognition of Meities as ST.

It should be noted that Manipur is "90% hilly area" and 10% Valleys/plain area.

The Hilly Area is controlled by Hilly Tribes & they are mostly Christians.

Meiteis live in valleys & they are mostly Hindus.

Overall, there are 41% Christians & 41% Hindus in Manipur.

Now, these "Hilly Tribes" are saying Meiteis are not Tribals, they are SC, OBC, Brahmins....

But, I want to ask Why these Christians are called "Hilly Tribes"??

Shouldn't you lose "Tribal" tag as soon as you convert to another religion???

Are these "Hilly Tribes" really fighting to preserve their tribal culture??

Haven't they already damaged their tribal culture by converting to a foreign religion??

Shouldn't we recognise "Meiteis" as true heir of Manipuri tribal culture as these are the people of who did not convert??
