The IAA Mobility Show and the Web Summit will be in-person events when they're held next month in Munich and November in Lisbon, respectively; two small signs the European business community are ready to return to pre-pandemic life as much as possible. https://t.co/aFHHTQiwks
It's a good time for @MarcAllera and his @BTGroup counterparts to flex their network muscles now that it has a stronger competitor in the form of the @virginmedia and @O2 combination in the U.K. Incumbent upon the operator to demonstrate applications of its smart / #5G networks.
We've been saying #5G is an evolution, not a revolution since next-gen commercial services were launched in 2019, despite the tremendous hyperbole associated with next-gen networks. #BT's announcements show the promise of #5G can be fulfilled but it will take multiple years.
Quality of service (e.g. better indoor network coverage) will be the differentiator of BT and other mobile network operators for the foreseeable future. To that end, BT has underscored the expansiveness of its network and the point at which #5G is introduced in the U.K.
For all the talk of telco transformation and #5G solutions for enterprises, network services are still very much the core competency of mobile network operators in the U.K. and abroad. Today's presentation from BT underscored the point. #telecoms
A series of #5G related announcements made by BT this morning including a UK coverage target of >90% by the year 2028. Further proof that #5G is an evolution not a revolution.
First event I've been invited to in "I don't how long" that hasn't been cancelled owing to COVID. Suppose I'm grateful even if England loses in Sunday night's final.
3/ Mobile network operators in the UK, like BT's EE unit, have missed out on a lot of roaming revenue since 2017 when the EU mandated free roaming.
Reinstating roaming charges post-Brexjt will help defray the cost of #5G rollouts and digitization initiatives.
#EE is the first mobile network operator to officially slap roaming charges on new and upgrading customers in Britain even though o2 took more heat this week for reintroducing its 'fair use' policy. #telecoms
The #MWC21 trade show was an unfortunate early casualty of the COVID-19 outbreak last year. This webcast will be an analysis of this year's event where we present our thoughts on hot topics that are discussed at the show in Barcelona. Register here 👉 https://t.co/Y6bXTdlGRI
Attractive looking set of features released and apps built into #Windows11. In sum, all that's new seems like a set of enhancements not an overhaul. Regardless, I can see how the Android apps and the remote working features will be useful. #MicrosoftEvent
The reintroduction of roaming charges to Britons traveling abroad post-Brexit was bound to happen as mobile network operators try to claw back a source of revenue that all but disappeared during the pandemic. Expect competitors of o2 to follow suit. https://t.co/7L1oEiI4hL
3/ 25 GB is vastly more data than holidaymakers will use so it's likely a non-issue. That said, consumers should be protected from unintended roaming charges assessed during their holidays, which can be a thornier issue admittedly. #myPOV#25gb
2/ to those losing their minds / British holidaymakers that use more than *25 GB* of data - the point from which o2 plans to charge overage fees - during what should be down time, it may be time to reassess priorities. #putthephonedown#myPOV#telecoms#25gb
