Mission Valley is headed to the 2-1A State Softball semifinals after a dominant 5-0 win over Rossville on Monday at the Lake Shawnee Softball Complex.

Maddie Kraus was outstanding in the circle for the Vikings, striking out 10 while tossing a one-hit shutout over seven innings. The right-hander walked three and never allowed Rossville to generate consistent offense.

Mission Valley broke the game open in the third inning. Maddie Kraus delivered a two-run double, while Keagan Kraus and Kaitlyn Coursen each added RBI singles during the four-run frame.

Kraus also led the Vikings offensively, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Mission Valley finished with eight hits and played a clean defensive game without an error. Annie Bryan led the way defensively with 10 chances.

Claire Whitmore recorded the lone hit for Rossville.

Mission Valley now advances to Thursday’s 2-1A State Softball semifinals at KU where the Vikings will face the winner of TMP-Marian or Uniontown at 1 p.m. #sportsinkansas
