Al-Hasan al-Basri said: "O son of Adam, walk on the earth with your feet as long as you wish, for it shall soon be your grave."
Ramadan is almost over. And one day, a Ramadan will come that you will not be alive for.
You do not know which one. It could be this one's last nights.
Stand tonight like it is your last chance to stand. Because one year, it will be.
Night 25. You are in sujood. Forehead on the ground. Palms flat.
You do not know if this is the night. Nobody does.
But you are asking as if it is. Every dua you have been saving — the one about your parents, the one about your future, the one you have never said out loud — say it now.
"Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni."
Stay down. The ground has never been closer to the ONE above the sky than it is right now.
You spent Ramadan arguing about moon sightings and iftar recipes while children in Gaza spent it under rubble.
We post "never forget" and forget by Isha.
We say "the ummah is one body" but the body has been bleeding for over a year and most of us have not even made a single sajdah specifically for them.
The last 10 nights are almost here. A night worth 83 years is somewhere in them.
And you are going to use it for what? Your career? Your mortgage? Your marriage?
Ask for those. But if you do not use at least one sujood in the most powerful nights of the year to beg for children who cannot beg for themselves — then wallahi we need to ask ourselves what kind of ummah we really are.
"And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do." [Quran 14:42]
He is watching them. But He is also watching us.
He is watching what we do with these nights. He is watching whether we used the most powerful weapon He gave us or whether we slept through it.
Beg for them. Beg against their oppressors. Allah knows every name.
Do not waste the last 10 nights. The ummah cannot afford it.
2.
That is how many odd nights are left this Ramadan. Night 25 may have passed. Night 27, 29 remain.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan." [Bukhari]
You are almost there. Do not ease up now. The last 5 nights are where legacies are built.
The sahaba did not cruise to the finish line. They sprinted.
Tonight could be the night.
Not "tonight might be nice to pray extra." Tonight could literally hold more reward than your entire life.
Clear your schedule. Cancel the plans. Tell people you are unavailable.
You will have 335 other nights this year to socialise. You will not get another Night 25 of Ramadan for 12 months.
Al-Hasan al-Basri رحمه الله said: "O son of Adam, you are nothing but a number of days. Whenever a day passes, a part of you passes."
Every Fajr you catch is a Fajr someone else didn't live to see. Every sujood is on borrowed time. Every "Allahu Akbar" is a gift you might not say tomorrow.
You think you're guaranteed next Jumu'ah. You think you're owed next Ramadan. The sahaba knew better. They prayed like it was their last. Because one day, it will be.
The angels descend on Laylatul Qadr.
They descend with peace. With mercy. With every decree for the coming year.
And they walk among people in sujood.
Tonight is Night 25. One of the strongest candidates. The angels may already be descending by Maghrib.
Where will they find you? On the prayer mat or on the timeline?
If you are exhausted — if your body is breaking and you are wondering if you can keep going for 5 more nights — read this.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Jannah is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by temptations." [Muslim]
The tiredness is the proof you are going in the right direction.
Easy worship is not being tested. What you are doing right now — dragging yourself to the prayer mat at 3am when every muscle says stop — this is the worship that weighs heaviest on the Scale.
"Do not let the horse be more intelligent than you."
That line from Ibn al-Jawzi needs to be tattooed on every Muslim's brain right now.
A horse doesn't think about the laps it already lost. It just sprints at the end. No regret. No overthinking. Just full effort when it matters most.
You wasted the first half? The horse doesn't care about the first half.
"Actions are judged by their endings."
The last 10 nights are the finish line. Sprint.
If you feel like your Ramadan has been average — not terrible, but not what you imagined — read this.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The most beloved deed to Allah is the most consistent, even if it is small." [Bukhari]
You do not need a dramatic transformation. You need 2 rakah at tahajjud. Every night. For the rest of the month.
Small and consistent beats intense and burned out. Every time.
Laylatul Qadr
One night. Not a year of worship. Not a lifetime of perfection. One night.
And Allah hid it. He did not tell you which one. Because He wants you to chase it. He wants you showing up every night of the last ten not knowing if this is the one.
That is not cruelty. That is mercy. Because if you knew which night it was you would only show up once. He wanted you to show up ten times.
83 years of worship handed to you in a single sujood. And it is less than two weeks away.
Do not sleep through your rewrite.
Do you realize what is about to happen?
In a few days, you will enter the last 10 nights of Ramadan. Somewhere inside those nights is Laylatul Qadr — a single night worth more than 83 years of worship.
83 years. You will probably not even live that long.
And Allah is offering it to you for free. One night of sincerity. One night of standing.
Some people would give their entire fortune for this opportunity. You just have to stay awake.
Ibn Qayyim said: "For everything that a slave loses, there is a substitute. But the one who loses Allah will never find anything to replace Him."
If Ramadan has not felt the way you hoped — if the khushu is not there, if the tears have not come, if you feel further from Allah than when the month began — do not stop.
You have not lost Him. You are just looking for Him in the wrong place.
He is in sujood. Go back.
You fast all day and pray all night. Then you backbite at iftar.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it, Allah has no need of him giving up his food and drink." [Bukhari]
Your fast is not just your stomach. It is your tongue. Your eyes. Your thumbs on that screen.
The hunger means nothing if the character does not change.
Umar رضي الله عنه said: "Account yourselves before you are held to account. Weigh your deeds before they are weighed for you."
17 days into Ramadan. Do the accounting now.
How many Fajrs did you pray on time? How many nights did you stand in taraweeh? How many pages of Quran?
Not to shame yourself. To know where you stand. So the last 13 days are not guesswork.
Ali رضي الله عنه said: "The dunya is coming to an end, and the akhirah is coming to a beginning, and they both have children. So be children of the akhirah."
Halfway through Ramadan.
Which one are you a child of right now? The screen or the prayer mat? The iftar table or the tahajjud?
"For today there is action with no account. And tomorrow there is account with no action."
Tonight there is still action. Use it.
27 times. That is how much more reward prayer in congregation carries over praying alone. [Bukhari]
In Ramadan, every masjid is open. Every row is full. The athan is calling and the door is 5 minutes away.
You will not get this ease of access for 11 more months.
Do not pray Isha alone on your bedroom floor when the congregation is waiting for you.
Half of Ramadan is gone. And you will never get it back.
Not this one. Not these exact nights. Not this version of you that is fasting and fighting and still showing up.
People plan for Ramadan for weeks. Then blink and it's Eid.
You have 15 nights left. Somewhere in the last 10 is a night the angels descend so heavily that the earth can barely hold them. A night where one sujood is worth more than a lifetime of worship.
You are 5 days away from the most valuable nights you will ever live.
Don't coast into them. Crawl if you have to.
The four trials in Surah al-Kahf are not random.
Faith — the People of the Cave.
Wealth — the owner of two gardens.
Knowledge — Musa and al-Khidr.
Power — Dhul Qarnayn.
The Dajjal will test you with all four at once.
And the protection?
The first ten verses. The story of young people who gave up everything because they refused to follow what everyone else was following.
That's the test today. Everyone is following. Everyone is scrolling. Everyone is watching.
The People of the Cave walked away.
That's not just protection. That's the rehearsal.
