I have never told you the story of my first failed startup.

Maybe you can learn from my mistakes. I made a lot of them.

This is me with ~21 years. 👇

I started a t shirt design startup ~10 years ago.

I was always ambitious, i was never sitting around so i came up with an idea.

Why not make money online with my creative skills. 🤷‍♂️

So i sit down, created some tshirt designs.

I built a website with my html+css+js knowledge and integrated a shop that would take over my logistics.

Next I grew an instagram account to 7k organic!! followers.

Instagram was booming back then. It was THE PLACE to go for style.

It might sound weird, i was BREATHING instagram. I spent 6-8 hours per day there. I knew everything about instagram!!

Instagram content marketing was my thing. I just knew how shit worked there.

I also used a lot facebook ads back then, but most sales came from Instagram.

I worked so many hours on the designs.

Every day 3 new designs!!!

I worked btw full time in sales already. This tshirt thing was a side hustle!

I didn‘t sleep longer than 4-5 hours.
I WAS IN HUSTLE MODE 120%.

I hired influencers. Basically semi-pros. These were the only ones i was able to pay.

They would wear my shirts and hoodies to events and take some photos with the stuff.

This brought me a lot of sales.

Then came the turn.

A big competitor started stealing my designs.

They started campaigns with MY DESIGNS with big influencers.

The BIG player started liking my stuff on insta as kind of „provocation“.

My startup got even more hit by this as people thought i was stealing designs, not the other way around. 👀

I was too small to protect myself against that.

I was scared, would they now sue me although i am the creator?!

Some of you may know this ONE big player. 🤫
(Don‘t even try DMing me about that, i don‘t want trouble)

On top of that my best trusted star Influencers started playing, he took the money and ghosted me. We didn‘t have a contract.

Too many problems day by day.

Nobody there to help.

I was left alone. ALL my Influencers left bc they thiught i am a copycat.

I started losing followers.

I closed the project, as i didn‘t see the horizont coming. Looking at it afterwards the wrong decision.

The learnings i got were golden.

I would never ever miss that time.

Looking back it was a business that could have worked if i would have bought the material on my own and did real logistics. Plus if i would have protected myself from legal side.

I would know how to start such a business tomorrow, but i am tired of the copycats and big players ruling the game.
