Tried out @newton_xyz today after seeing a lot of hype around it. It's a platform using AI agents to automate DeFi - things like yield farming, portfolio management, and cross-chain transactions. Sounded promising, so I jumped in.

I had used Wayfinder before and was really impressed with how smooth and intuitive it was. That experience set the bar high, so I was excited to see what Magic Newton had to offer.

Right now, there’s just one agent live: the Recurring Agent. It lets you schedule USDC swaps into ETH or cbBTC - like swapping $10 every hour or once a week. I tried it by swapping $5 every hour into ETH just to see how it works.

It ran a few times fine, but after a few successful swaps, one failed and the agent paused itself. So it’s not fully “set it and forget it” - you still have to monitor it.

At this stage, the functionality feels super early. It’s simple and not really innovative yet. A lot of the hype might be driven more by the Kaito incentives than what the product can currently do.

If you're building a serious agent platform in 2025, I’d expect at least:
– Basic swaps
– Bridging
– Interacting with protocols (staking, lending, etc.)
Even small Solana projects have bots that do more right now.
That said, Magic Newton’s bigger vision is what really caught my eye: agents that can think for you - not just follow instructions, but make smart decisions on their own. That’s where things get interesting.
But before we get there, we need to see strong basics: rock-solid transactions, more asset support, and real integrations. Once that foundation is in place, then it makes sense to talk about fully autonomous agents.

There's a channel on their Discord where people are suggesting ideas for new agents - and honestly, some of the ideas are great. I couldn’t see all the replies from people (probably missing a role as a new member), but I’m curious to follow along.

We need the team to communicate more clearly and frequently about updates and upcoming features. The concept is strong, but we need to see the execution catch up.

Magic Newton has the potential. The UI is clean, the energy is there, and the ideas are big. Now it’s just time to see if the team will give us something more.
