I ran for the NV State Board of Education on one promise: to protect public education– from privatizers, political favors, and backroom deals dressed up as “reform.”

Recently, our State Superintendent accepted a new role with CCSD. I publicly congratulated her and hoped the appointment process to find her replacement would be thoughtful, transparent, and collaborative.

Instead, it was business as usual.

- It wasn’t a transparent process.
- It wasn’t about collaboration.
- It was a top-down political appointment—handed to us like a done deal.
- We’re expected to smile & accept it.

This isn’t just about one appointment. It’s about power being consolidated, again, in the hands of people who have already proven they’ll side with corporations over communities.

So here’s your official heads up:
I will not play along.
I will not pretend this is okay.
I am not smiling.
& I will not accept it.

If I have to go back to being that board member… the one asking uncomfortable questions, calling out power plays, and refusing to play nice while our schools are being sold off (aka the “dramatic” one)- that’s fine by me.

I didn’t run for this seat to stay quiet.

I ran to protect Nevada’s students, educators, and communities.
