He failed Class 10 because he couldn't stop creating art. Today, his paintings are winning hearts across India.

Growing up in a small village in Maharashtra's Marathwada region, Navnath Kshirsagar spent his childhood making clay toys and sketching rural life. His love for art was so deep that he failed his Class 10 exams.

But he didn't let one setback define him. He cleared the exams the following year, joined Pune's Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, and graduated as a university topper in 2007. After teaching at an architecture college for several years, he took a leap of faith in 2021, leaving his job to pursue art full-time.

Today, his paintings beautifully capture Maharashtra's Wari tradition, village life, and the spirit of rural India. His work has earned national recognition and appreciation from Miss World.

For Navnath, however, his greatest achievement is seeing the pride in his parents' and wife's eyes.

His journey is proof that one exam can never define your future.

The Chariot That Explains the Entire Human Mind (Kaṭha Upanishad)… 😱

In the Kaṭha Upanishad, Yama teaches Nachiketa one of the most profound models of human psychology ever described... the Chariot Analogy. In just a few verses, it explains the relationship between the body, mind, intellect, senses, and the Self.

> The body is the chariot. The Ātman is the master of the chariot. The intellect (Buddhi) is the charioteer, while the mind (Manas) serves as the reins that guide the journey.

> The senses are the horses, constantly pulling toward their respective objects. The roads they travel are the objects of the senses... the sights, sounds, tastes, touches, and smells of the world.

> If the intellect lacks discrimination and the mind fails to control the senses, the horses run wild. The individual becomes driven by impulse, desire, and distraction, losing sight of the true destination.

> But when the intellect is wise, the mind is steady, and the senses are disciplined, the journey remains under control. The chariot reaches its highest goal... the realization of the Self.

> The Kaṭha Upanishad teaches that liberation does not depend on suppressing the senses. It depends on placing every part of the inner instrument under the guidance of wisdom.

The problem is not the horses... It is whether the charioteer is awake.

One year.
That's all it took to turn one of the most painful moments of her young career into one of its greatest triumphs.

At just 15, Syndrela Das walked away from the 2025 Butterfly UTT auction unsold. Every team had built its squad. Her name was never called.
Many would have let that moment break them.
She chose to let it build her.

She returned to the training hall, worked harder than ever, kept winning at home and abroad, became World No. 1 in the ITTF U-17 Girls' Doubles rankings alongside Divyanshi Bhowmick, finished runner-up at the Senior National Championships at just 16, earned a place in India's squads for the World Team Championships and the 2026 Asian Games, and returned to the UTT auction as one of the most sought-after young players. Goa Challengers signed her after a fierce bidding war.

Then came the perfect ending to the story.

Representing Goa Challengers, Syndrela stunned Indian star Manika Batra in straight games. The same teenager who once watched her idol from the stands had now defeated her on the biggest stage.

Some rejections aren't the end of the story. They're simply the chapter that makes the ending unforgettable.

As of this year, about 50% of Tamil Nadu school students study in government schools. This percentage has dropped considerably because the government schools have gotten worse. Often even poor rural parents borrow money to send their children to private schools when they can, because of the deterioration in government schools.

One key problem is the corruption in government school recruitment, which has been a long standing open secret and the going rate I am told is about one year of salary paid in advance.

I studied in free schools funded by the government (aided school) so I want to make the system stronger.
We are happy to run our free private schools, and we will expand them further, but we need to make our government schools much stronger.

We still have many dedicated teachers in government schools. We have to strengthen them. A good place to start is to end the corruption in school teacher recruitment.

The infrastructure of government schools is good in some places, not so good in others. But fixing that comes next, only after fixing recruitment.

Our poorest communities need strong free schools. Thank you 🙏 @CMOTamilnadu
