সর্বপ্রথমে আমি ফলতা বিধানসভা আসনের পুনর্নির্বাচনে ভারতীয় জনতা পার্টির প্রার্থী শ্রী দেবাংশু পাণ্ডাকে বিপুল জনাদেশ দিয়ে বিধানসভায় পাঠানোর জন্য ফলতার জনতা-জনার্দন গণদেবতাকে নত মস্তকে প্রণাম জানাই। ফলতার ভোটারদের কাছে বিশেষ ভাবে কৃতজ্ঞ, বিজেপির প্রার্থী কে এক লক্ষ ভোটে জেতানোর আবেদন করেছিলাম, জয়ের ব্যবধান এক লক্ষ আট হাজার পেরিয়েছে। উন্নয়নের মাধ্যমে আপনাদের এই ঋণ শোধ করব। সোনার ফলতা গড়ার জন্য আমরা দায়বদ্ধ।

একটি নীতি-আদর্শহীন দল, যা মাফিয়া কোম্পানিতে রূপান্তরিত হয়েছিল, ক্ষমতা হারাতেই তার কঙ্কালসার দশা উন্মোচিত হয়েছে। রাষ্ট্রীয় শক্তির অপব্যবহার করে সরকারি ধন লুঠ, মানুষের কষ্টার্জিত অর্থ তোলাবাজি, সিন্ডিকেট ও থ্রেট কালচারের মাধ্যমে কেড়ে নিয়ে এই দলের নেতারা ধরাকে সরা জ্ঞান করেছিল।

প্যারাসুটে নেমে সেনাপতি আখ্যা পাওয়া এক জালিয়াত, এমন কোনো অপরাধ নেই যা সংগঠিত করেনি। নিজের অপরাধ সিন্ডিকেটকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে গণতন্ত্রের কণ্ঠরোধ করতেও কোনো কসুর করেনি এই ‘বাঘের ছাল পরিহিত বেড়াল’। ফলস্বরূপ, বিগত নির্বাচনকে পরিহাসে পরিণত করে এই বিধানসভা ক্ষেত্রে দেড় লাখ ভোটের লিড নিয়েছিল তৃণমূল। ১৫ বছর পরে যখন মানুষ নিজের ভোট নিজে দেওয়ার স্বাধীনতা ফিরে পেলেন, তখন আসল বাস্তব প্রকাশিত হলো।

এ তো সবে শুরু, প্রত্যাখ্যানের দীর্ঘ যাত্রা এবার অতিক্রম করতে হবে। আগামী দিনে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের নেতৃত্বের সামনে নির্বাচনে ‘নোটা’-র বিরুদ্ধে কঠিন লড়াই অপেক্ষা করছে। সর্বভারতীয় তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস ইতিমধ্যেই ত্রিপুরা রাজ্যের বিধানসভা নির্বাচনে ‘নোটা’-র কাছেও পরাজিত হয়েছে। আগামী দিনে পশ্চিমবঙ্গেও এই জমজমাট লড়াই প্রত্যক্ষ করার অপেক্ষায় রয়েছেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গবাসী...

The phrase defeats itself on inspection - none of its three words survive a basic audit.

On "Free":
- Her paper Dagsavisen is owned by Christian missionary groups - including Normisjon, descendant of the body that ran proselytisation schools among India's Santhal tribes for 134 years.
- It survives on a massive annual state subsidy from the Norwegian government. Without the dole, the paper wouldn't be able to survive.

On "Freest":
- The World Press Freedom Index is a subjective survey of ~150 self-selected Western correspondents per country.
- No audit of ownership, subsidy capture, or commercial bias.

The press that calls itself the freest does not survive an honest look at itself.

Well, for starters...

They celebrate Tipu Sultan. The barbarian who pillaged my home district and destroyed the Kerala School of Mathematics. The last indigenous scientific effort in India. Tipu destroyed the legacy and destiny of Kerala. The last Kerala Mathematician Sankara Varman had to flee for his life from Malabar to British Madras. Even Madhava of Sangamagrama's personal Krishna shrine was burned down and the family repaired it only a century later.

You want these guys to control the Education system of Kerala? Do you think they care about the intellectual and philosophical legacy of Kerala? No Malayali with historical literacy and self respect can forgive this cave man with a crown. But then again, Malayalis do not have literacy in things that matter most long term.

Won't be long before you see official Tipu Jayanti celebrations in Kerala. Bright future ahead! Intellectual destiny lost. And now demographic and political destiny also in free fall...

समाजवादी पार्टी (सपा) के एक प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता द्वारा अभी हाल ही में ब्राह्मण समाज को लेकर की गयी अभद्र, अशोभनीय एवं आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी व बयानबाज़ी आदि को लेकर हर तरफ उपजा भारी आक्रोश व उसकी तीव्र निन्दा स्वाभाविक ही है तथा इस विवाद के फलस्वरूप पुलिस द्वारा मुक़दमा दर्ज किये जाने के बाद भी यह मामला थमने का नाम नहीं ले रहा है। किन्तु संकीर्ण जातिवादी राजनीति करने वाली सपा के नेतृत्व की इस मामले को लेकर ख़ामोशी से भी मामला और अधिक गंभीर होकर काफी तूल पकड़ता जा रहा है। स्थिति भी तनावपूर्ण होती जा रही है।
वैसे भी सपा प्रवक्ता के ग़ैर-ज़िम्मेदाराना बयान से ब्राह्मण समाज के आदर-सम्मान व स्वाभिमान को जो ठेस पहुँची है तो उसको गंभीरता से लेते हुये सपा मुखिया को इसका तत्काल संज्ञान लेकर ब्राह्मण समाज से छमा याचना व पश्चाताप कर लेना चाहिये तो यह संभवतः उचित होगा।
इसके अलावा, इस ताज़ा प्रकरण से लोगों की नज़र में यह भी साबित है कि सपा का ख़ासकर दलितों, अति-पिछड़ों व मुस्लिम समाज आदि की तरह ब्राह्मण समाज-विरोधी भी इनका जातिवादी चाल व चरित्र बदला नहीं है बल्कि और ज़्यादा गहरा ही हुआ है तथा इसके साथ ही, ब्राह्मण समाज के प्रति वर्तमान सरकार के रवैयों को लेकर भी जो ज़बरदस्त नाराज़गी इस समाज में देखने को मिल रही है वह भी किसी से छिपा हुआ नहीं है,
जबकि यह सर्वविदित है कि बी.एस.पी. द्वारा सर्वसमाज की तरह ब्राह्मण समाज को भी पार्टी व सरकार में भी भरपूर आदर-सम्मान देने के साथ-साथ हर स्तर पर उन्हें उचित भागीदारी भी दी गयी है अर्थात् बी.एस.पी. में यूज़ एण्ड थ्रो नहीं है बल्कि सर्वसमाज का हित हमेशा सुरक्षित रहा है।
