NFDC–NFAI's Archival Preservation Brings Malayalam Classic Kireedam Back to the Big Screen in 4K ✨🎬👏

✴️Malayalam cinema classic Kireedam will return to theatres in India and overseas on July 10, 2026 in a restored 4K version with Dolby Atmos sound.

✴️The restoration highlights the importance of preserving India’s film heritage. The original camera negative of the 1989 film had deteriorated and could not be used. However, the National Film Archive of India had preserved a 35mm release print for more than 30 years. This archival print became the basis for the 4K restoration.

✴️Directed by Siby Malayil and written by A. K. Lohithadas, Kireedam stars Mohanlal as Sethumadhavan and Thilakan as Head Constable Achuthan Nair. The film is regarded as one of the finest works in Malayalam cinema.

ഇന്ന് കണ്ണൂരിലുള്ള ഒര് ഫ്രണ്ടിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോയി. എന്റെ കൂടെ ഒരാൾ കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.അവനിന്നലെ ഇലക്ഷൻ ഡ്യൂട്ടിയിൽ വോട്ടർമാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ മഷി പുരട്ടുന്ന second poling officer ആയിരുന്നു.അവന്റെ കൈ നിറയെ മഷി പുരണ്ടു കിടക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ട് ഞങ്ങൾ പോയ വീട്ടിലെ ഫ്രണ്ട് ചോദിച്ചു.അപ്പോ അവൻ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു.അപ്പോ അവൻ അച്ഛനോട് പറയുകയാ മഷി മായ്ക്കുന്ന മഷി ബാക്കിയുണ്ടോന്ന് അടുത്ത വീട്ടിലെ ...... ചേച്ചിയോട് ഒന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു നോക്കാമോ എന്ന്.ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടിരിക്കെ തന്നെ ഫ്രണ്ടിന്റെ അച്ഛൻ അടുത്ത വീട്ടിലെ ചേച്ചിയോട് ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോ ആ ചേച്ചി പറഞ്ഞു അതൊക്കെ പിള്ളേർ ഇന്നലെ തന്നെ കൊണ്ട് പോയി എന്ന്. ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടിരിക്കെ തന്നെ അടുത്ത വീട്ടിൽ പോയി ചോദിക്കാൻ പറഞ്ഞ ഫ്രണ്ടും കൊള്ളാം അത്‌ കേട്ട് ചോദിക്കാൻ പോയ അവന്റെ അച്ഛനും കൊള്ളാം ഇന്നലെ ബൂത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള സ്വന്തം വീട്ടിൽ മഷി മായ്ക്കാനും കള്ള വോട്ടിനുള്ള ആളെ "prepare "ചെയ്യാനും ഒക്കെ സൗകര്യം ചെയ്ത് കൊടുത്ത ചേച്ചിയും കൊള്ളാം ... എല്ലാം കമ്മികൾ തന്നെ 😊.. ഇതിലൊക്കെ എനിക്ക് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത് ആ ഫ്രണ്ടിന്റെ അച്ഛൻ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകൾ ആണ് : ഈ ദിവസം നാട്ടിൽ ഇല്ലാത്തവരുടെ vote മാത്രമേ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളു അല്ലാതെ ഇല്ലാത്ത vote അല്ല, അതെങ്ങനെ കള്ള vote ആകും എന്ന് 😄
