Chief Executive Officer @FoodBevCanada. ๐๐๐ท
DYK that food & bev manufacturing is Cdn's largest manufacturing sector & largest manufacturing employer?
Food and beverage manufacturing is the largest manufacturing industry in Cdn by employment and GDP. We call on all parties to stand with Cdn food and beverage manufacturers, and to demonstrate that support through concrete commitments as we work to feed Cdns everyday. #cdnagri

Growing more food is important. Processing more of it in Canada is essential. We look forward to working with government to strengthen competitiveness, attract investment, and create more value from Canadian agriculture. #FoodManufacturing#cdnpoli
"A food strategy requires a clear vision, measurable objectives, and a long-term commitment. What Ottawa has unveiled is better described as a collection of investments.
The numbers tell part of the story. Canadaโs new plan amounts to roughly $320 million annually, or about $7.80 per Canadian per year. For comparison, even excluding SNAP and other nutrition programs, the U.S. Farm Bill spends between US$75 and US$120 per person annually on agriculture, crop insurance, conservation, rural development, and competitiveness. Canada is operating on an entirely different scale."
Our latest Thought Leadership report examines why Canadaโs Food and Beverage productivity growth in the sector has slowed and whatโs needed to reverse the trend.

"Over the next decade, 3% annual food and beverage manufacturing GDP growth could add $40 billion to total national GDP, create 217,000 new jobs, generate $1.3 billion in tax revenue & generate $16 billion in wages and benefits for Cdns." https://t.co/R0eMQJ2O8H @FCCagriculture
๐จ๐ฆโs wine industry is primed for growth, will the provinces help write the next chapter of this ๐จ๐ฆeconomic success story.

Labour shortages increase costs through turnover, lost production, & operational inefficiencies. A stable workforce is essential to maintaining domestic production capacity, strengthening food security, and limiting inflationary pressure in the food system. #cdnagri
Recommendation 6 of FBC-ABCโs 2026 Budget Submission calls for labour & immigration policies that reflect the year-round workforce needs of food & bev manufacturing.
A stable workforce is essential to maintaining food production capacity, and strengthening food security.
Fragmented systems are creating unnecessary compliance costs, administrative duplication, and operational inefficiencies for manufacturers operating nationally.
Canada needs a more coordinated approach that supports both environmental outcomes and competitiveness. #cdnagri
Recommendation 4 of FBC-ABCโs 2026 Budget Submission calls for harmonized EPR & packaging policies across Cdn.
Fragmented systems increase costs and inefficiencies for manufacturers operating nationally - costs that ultimately impact food prices.

Regulatory burden drives up production costs, delays investment, slows innovation, & weakens competitiveness - including through requirements that do not improve health or food safety outcomes. Reducing unnecessary complexity would help lower costs across the food system. #cdnag
Recommendation 3 of FBC-ABCโs 2026 Budget Submission calls for removing duplicative & outdated regs that increase costs, delay investment, & slow innovation without improving health or food safety outcomes.
Reducing unnecessary red tape would help lower costs across the system.
Recommendation 2 of FBC-ABCโs 2026 Budget Submission calls for action to reduce energy, fuel & freight costs - key drivers of food production and grocery prices.
Lowering costs at the source is one of the fastest ways to improve food affordability in Canada.
Rec 1 of FBC-ABCโs 2026 Budget Submission calls for a scaled Domestic Processing Fund to support investment in modernization & expanded processing capacity.
If Cdn is serious about food affordability & food security, we need to process more of what we grow HERE AT HOME. #cdnagri
The most effective way to improve food affordability is to lower the cost of producing food in Cdn. That means supporting investment in domestic processing capacity, reducing unnecessary costs & admin burden, and ensuring Cdnย remainsย an attractive place to manufacture food & bev.
Today, Food and Beverage Canada submitted its 2026 Pre-Budget Submission to the House Finance Committee, focused on one core message: if Canada is serious about food affordability, food security, and economic resilience, we must lower the cost of producing food here at home.
Wonderful to have a strong #ag advocate in MP OโRourke. Thank you for taking the time to discuss what the fed gov can do to ensure Cdn's food & bev manufacturing industry remains competitive, continues to attract investment, and can keep producing more food here at home. #cdnagri

There has not been a time in my career when it has been more important to turn uncertainty into opportunity.
I believe our food and beverage processing sector is poised to seize this moment, and the FBO 2026 Annual Conference on May 27 at Steam Whistle is the catalyst to do exactly that.
Our speaker lineup featuring @DavidColetto, @althiaraj, and Benjamin Tal โ along with the opportunity to hear directly from Premier @fordnation and David W. Paterson, Ontario's Representative in Washington, on the evolving CanadaโU.S. relationship โ will give attendees the insight and perspective to act. Add the networking opportunities with sector representatives, and you have the highest conference ROI I know of.
I hope you and key members of your team are able to join us. Contact Jason Crawford at FBO within the next week โ before this event is sold outโ at [email protected].

Deloitte reports that Canada's wine industry is poised to generate billions in new economic activity, jobs, and rural investmentโif Canadian wines are finally allowed to compete freely in their own domestic market. Removing internal trade barriers is key to growth.
A great conversation with @Agproudmary last week on the critical role of food & beverage manufacturing in supporting our Canadian agricultural producers. #cdnagri
