I understand the immediate anger about wanting to blow it all up. Fire everyone etc.
But can we take a moment and look at the facts:
This team lost 1 freaking time in all of 2025.
This team led the NHL wire to the wire for the first time in god knows how long.
This team had the most standings points in their 30 years history.
This team gave up the fewest goals and scored the most.
This team swept the first round and took out one of the top teams in the league and a bitter rival in 5 games.
Should what happened in the span of 8 days invalidate what this team did in 8 months?
With no Makar? And a very injured Mackinnon?
I don't get the window closing talk. Did the majority of this team have a rough series. YUP. Did many have a rough playoff. YUP.
But that shit happens. The playoffs are a lot of luck. They are very unpredictable. You gotta get your way through the regular season gauntlet before you can even start trying to get through.
Don't get me wrong this ending is unacceptable. But I just refuse to let these last 8 days invalidate what the last 8 months of Avalanche hockey felt like.
8 days ago this was the most fun season of Avs hockey I've seen in 30 years.
And next year?
We get a full year of Naz back. We will be featured in the biggest NHL premier game for the first time ever. We are getting TWO brand New Jerseys that I cannot wait to buy. And there's nothing I've seen that shows me they can't have a ton of success next year again.
Crazy how quick things flopped but it happens.
Bottom line I hope Sakic and Co and Avs Faithful take a step back and really look at the bigger picture here.
@BenitoStalin@citchmook@garantula21 Taking a page out of the Stars playbook by choking away another cup 🙃
The Dallas Stars are great at two things. Being good enough for playoffs but not great enough to win a cup!
@Stryker7@Byron_D11@sickyvstheEarth@futurdgduCH To be clear, your opinion is that 70 has been worse than Blankenberg/Achan/Burns?
Could you go back to the Av to have the puck before the pinch and say that Av who lost possession was at fault? Or Toews after the pinch should’ve done better? Or Wedge was out of position?
@cgscudder@HornT73@jefferizov@ryanwhitney6 If you’re saying Ek and Brodin are more important (due to lack of depth for MN) even though they’re less talented as individuals, I understand the argument.
But even that is still debatable. Lehky is forechecker on line 1 like Ek. All 4 play special teams. Sam/Brodin both #3 D
@cgscudder@HornT73@jefferizov@ryanwhitney6 I watch whatever game is on, and have been a fan of Brodin since he came into the league, but he’s slowing down. The argument isn’t on careers, it’s on performance this year. If you wanna talk stats, what important stat did Brodin/Ek beat Malinski/Lehky on this year?
@JFreshHockey Wild fans seem to think Ek is superior to Lehky and Brodin is superior to Manson/Malinski.
Can we get one of each to help us decide which team had more talent injured? #goavsgo#mnwild
@NStarFan@SOH767 You think losing Ek(a second line center on any quality team) is equivalent to losing a top 2 player in the world?
Brodin isn’t the same player he use to be, so losing Manson and Malinski was plenty of a comparison on the backend.
Enjoy crying about injuries the next 5 months
The main difference between the #goavsgo fans and #mnwild fans…
Minnesota Fans:
“Our two injuries and fatigue are why we’re losing”
Colorado Fans:
“The fellas just had a bad night”
Ek and Brodin aren’t irreplaceable. The Wild just aren’t as deep as they need to be.
