THIS! While I will likely keep all of my horses forever, assuming that the second career home will always be an OTTB’s “forever home” is not only impractical as far as the horse industry goes, but almost laughable for horses who are already exiting an industry & connections.

@AlisonWilaby @RRP_TBMakeover Maybe it’s as simple (well, “simple”) as getting connections to acknowledge that an athlete is an athlete, regardless of why the horse was bred in the first place. The problem is that a good Eventing or dressage horse is simply not as valuable as a top-tier racehorse.

@Thecham21414601 It does! But that’s an interesting debate in and of itself: representation goes a long way. If you see a woman in a role you previously unconsciously believed was only for men, you’re that much more inspired as a girl to believe you too could have that job someday.
