Yesterday, I had the honor of announcing ConnectFree Healthcare, our groundbreaking initiative that has been hailed as a "new revolution in medicine," at a joint press conference with the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and the Governor of Kyoto Prefecture.
When I first learned about the current state of data sharing between medical institutions over a year ago, I was shocked. Even today, tools like fax machines and CD-Rs are the backbone of medical communication; What's worse: in acute emergency situations, when a patient needs to be transferred to a specialized invasive medical facility, ambulances are forced to wait for data to be burned onto a CD-R before they can proceed. This process can take up to 30 minutes or more(!), wasting precious, life-saving time.
You might think, "Hey, why not use the Internet?" or "What about the cloud?" Unfortunately, the centralized management systems and fragile security models of traditional internet infrastructure fail to guarantee the reliability, confidentiality and safety required for handling sensitive medical data. In short, the internet as we know it isn't up to the task...
This is where ConnectFree Healthcare™ steps in as a game-changer✨
Powered by our patented 3rd-Generation Internet architecture "Internet3," ConnectFree Healthcare enables secure, instantaneous communication of medical data: This next-generation internet framework not only improves the efficiency of emergency care but also makes real-time remote treatment a reality. It’s not just about going digital -- it’s about solving real-world problems faced by healthcare professionals every day. By removing these barriers, we empower medical teams to focus on their primary mission: providing exceptional care to their patients. This is the "freedom" in ConnectFree that we aim to deliver for both healthcare providers and patients.
To bring this vision to life, we’ve partnered with Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine to establish the "ConnectFree Healthcare 21st Century Medicine Program," a three-year initiative starting this month. By the end of the year, ConnectFree Healthcare will be implemented in over 70 affiliated medical institutions. (If you’re interested in collaborating or learning more, please feel free to reach out)
What the 20th-century internet couldn't achieve, ConnectFree Healthcare is making possible. This initiative doesn’t just support frontline medical work -- it has the potential to transform regional healthcare systems and pave the way for a new global medical model from Japan to the world.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Takatoshi NISHIWAKI and everyone who joined us at the press conference. At ConnectFree, we believe technology should empower individuals, not complicate their lives. Our philosophy is simple: when innovation works in harmony with you, it’s not just progress -- it’s freedom!
Cracks forming in the ivory tower? Chasing empty metrics/KPIs with img gen has cost them the race. They will probably merge with Microsoft before immediate insolvency, but not a good look. $GOOG does have the compute and will be powering $AAPL Siri going forward.
Compute enabled our first image generation launch (and a +32% jump in WAU over the following weeks) as well as our latest image generation launch yesterday. We have a lot more coming… and need a lot more compute.
Met with the family members of the Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea. As @POTUS reaffirmed, the United States supports Japan in its call to immediately resolve the abductions issue, and we denounce North Korean human rights abuses.
I was very pleased to receive such warm words of congratulations from @realDonaldTrump.
Truly hoping to work together with President Trump to make our 🇯🇵🇺🇸 Alliance even stronger & more prosperous, and to advance a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
More attention should be paid to @Apple's new A19 chip and its innovative memory integrity implementation that protects against hackers. I will be purchasing the new iPhone for that reason alone, and sincerely recommend to all of my friends that they do the same. @nobi@gruber

I’m thrilled to share that we have just closed two new funds: the $225M seed-focused Uncork VIII and the $75M opportunity fund, Uncork Plus IV. And today, we’re also celebrating @uncorkcap 21st anniversary. It’s been a long—at times tumultuous—but always incredible journey to reach the firm’s “adulthood” and I couldn’t be prouder of the team we’ve built and the portfolio of founders we’ve had the privilege of backing over the years.
After co-managing Uncork with @bandrew in recent years, I’ve asked him to take on the role of sole Managing Partner as we prepared to raise these new funds. I’ve had an absolute blast leading Uncork for 21 years—helping shape the seed industry alongside my fellow “OG’s”—but the time feels right for me to step back from day-to-day management. I’ll continue working closely with our portfolio founders, sourcing new opportunities with my Partners, and investing in the next generation of frontier and deep tech entrepreneurs. I’ll also be carving out space for some long-overdue bucket list travel, quality family time, and launching a small wine project in Walla Walla, WA.
Please join me in congratulating Andy as he leads Uncork into its next phase. We couldn’t ask for a better steward of the firm’s future.
LFG!
