3 boundaries that will actually change your life 👇🏻
1.Stop over-explaining your “no”. Say it once and move on.
If someone gets angry at your “no”, they weren’t asking. They were expecting compliance.
2.Stop meeting people just because of your (long) history.
If every time you see them you feel worse after, that’s all the information you need.
People don’t get upset because you changed. They get upset because you stopped playing your “old role.”
3. Stop dropping your plans because someone gets annoyed or disappointed.
Their emotional reaction tells a story of what THEY need, not what you owe.
Bottom line: A boundary doesn’t create conflict. It reveals it.
@nejsnave@bigaiguy I understand what you mean. But in simple terms - isn’t it still more efficient to provide a “well-rounded” context within the prompt to get a better response? Not two pages long. And not expecting long-term coherency. Simply just to get higher quality output?
Most of you have read Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman but how much do you actually remember?
I’m rereading it just now and came across this great visual summary by @tksuited that maps out the mental shortcuts that quietly run our decisions 👇🏻
The thoughts in your head aren’t you.
They’re mental events - little bursts of language and images your brain produces all day long.
Some are helpful, some are destructive, most are just noise.
But none of them are facts. (= they don’t define you)
The real “you” is the awareness that hears those thoughts.
And that awareness has the power to decide which ones get your attention and which ones don’t.
Your mind is YOUR territory.
And in your territory, only the thoughts you choose get to stay.
And it’s those choices that decide how you feel, and how you live.
The past has absolutely no power over you.
It’s dead.
Gone.
Returning no more.
The only place it can exist is in your head as a random collection of thoughts you’re choosing to focus on in the present moment.
So, let me be blunt 👉🏻Your shitty past doesn’t define you.
You’re defined by the thoughts you keep feeding in the PRESENT.
And every single second is an opportunity to let that old story go and start a new one.
I do believe that “everything happens for a reason" but it might not be the best thing to say to someone who’s currently in a lot of pain.
It’s an easy way to end a hard conversation. It implies there’s a neat little lesson for them to learn.
But it lacks empathy.
Here’s a better thought 👇🏻
"This didn't work out because you deserve even better!”
Don't give lessons. Give support. ♥︎
Your past has no power over you.
And it’s not just about forgetting what happened to you.
It’s a choice between being a historian of your pain or the architect of your future.
It’s a choice between rereading a dead chapter or writing a new one.
It’s a choice between letting a ghost haunt your house, or finally evicting it and changing the locks.
After 47 years, Jerry has made the difficult decision to step down from the company we built together. I’m sharing his words as he resigns from Ben & Jerry’s. His legacy deserves to be true to our values, not silenced by @MagnumGlobal#FreeBenAndJerrys
An imprisoned 18-year-old Scout leader portrayed secretly in 1957 on the most iconic coin of Communist Czechoslovakia, what an incredible story of bravery! 🧵👇 [1/7]
