The narrative around Thailand has changed. Thailand is now widely seen as the aggressor.

The 72-hour observation period of the Thailand–Cambodia ceasefire has ended after weeks of fighting that killed around one hundred people and displaced hundreds of thousands. Cambodia accepted the ceasefire without recognizing any military gains made by Thailand and has been clear that borders remain governed by existing treaties and international law.

Reporting by Al Jazeera confirms that Thai troops continue to control parts of Cambodian territory despite the truce. Thailand has also yet to release the 18 Cambodian soldiers it agreed to return. The ceasefire is holding, but the situation remains fragile.

On the ground, hundreds of thousands remain displaced. Some families have returned home. Others cannot, either out of fear or because their villages are now under Thai military control. Aid distributions continue daily, with civilians reporting destroyed homes and no safe place to return to.
