@shitlibtribal @copesint especially as those much more horrible futures offer us a way to vent the current/ongoing frustrations we have on a much 'larger' scale, but also get something cool and enjoyable/beneficial out of it - which is not feasible in our real life counterpart to it

except the uk and germany, who are just insane

@copesint (which kinda is the crux of my problem with the quoted types, as they do nothing to resolve those issues, they just shitstir and agitate the environment, driving nonproductive animosity at the forefront, harming any sort of civil-military service system that would benefit all)

@copesint (and yes, i know it existed prior, but only around that period did it emerge more as a concept where one could provide civil services in lieu of military ones, rather than being more along the lines of imprisonment or full on exemption)
