On 5 June 2026, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) hosted a discussion meeting on the Training of Trainers (ToT) Program on Transitional Justice in Cambodia. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Kranh Tony, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers and Acting Director of Administration of the ECCC.
Before the formal session commenced, participants were given a guided tour of the ECCC courtroom and archives, providing valuable insights into the Court’s mandate, achievements, and ongoing residual functions. The visit offered participants a unique opportunity to explore how the ECCC has contributed to justice, accountability, and historical preservation in Cambodia.
The program concluded with engaging presentations and discussions on transitional justice in Cambodia, encouraging participants to reflect on the lessons learned from the Khmer Rouge period and the importance of preserving these experiences for future generations.
The discussions were facilitated by our distinguished trainers, H.E. Thaung Socheat, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers and Senior Management Official of the ECCC, and Mr. Oliver Wiechmann, Representative of GIZ Cambodia and Ms. Karina Theurer whose expertise enriched the exchange of ideas and perspectives throughout the session.
On June 5, 2026, a total of 848 students, including 498 females, from Hun Sen Phnom Santuk High School actively participated in an outreach program conducted by the ECCC Mobile Resource Center, which arrived at their school. The program aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Khmer Rouge history and the judicial process of the ECCC in seeking justice for victims.
During the program, students engaged in presentations, group discussions, Q&A sessions, and watched documentary videos related to key cases and significant verdicts against Khmer Rouge leaders. This participation not only strengthened their knowledge of law and history but also encouraged youth to appreciate the values of peace, human rights, and the importance of preventing such atrocities from happening again.
Through this outreach activity, the ECCC continues its mission to pass on knowledge to younger generations, ensuring that history is not forgotten and that justice is respected and preserved in Cambodian society.

On the morning of June 04 , 2026, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) was pleased to welcome 200 students from the Toul Kbel high school, located in Kompong Thom province.
During this educational visit, the participants gained in-depth knowledge about the history of the Khmer Rouge and the ECCC’s key mission in seeking justice for victims of the genocidal regime.
In addition to attending presentations, participants visited the resource library and learned how to use the ECCC Legacy website, a valuable digital archive that provides access to important documents for research and further learning about the justice process in Cambodia.
Moreover, the students also participated in the first ECCC Book Fair organized to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance.
