@dr_krystal@MikeCarlton01@geeksrulz I wonder though how much of that commentary from Liberal leaning opinion article writers is about saving the furniture by making Morrison a scapegoat so the rest of the party can have plausible deniability to not need to change, or to move even further right?
@pottsies@ajprotheroe1@albericie@tanya_plibersek Not just younger voters. I'm not a younger voter but certainly voted Greens then Labor knowing how preferential voting works. I doubt I'm the only one. Lest anyone think I'm a leftie, I've voted for both majors, the Greens, and independents over the last 12 years at state & fed.
@MelbOnTransit The bus interchange just a short distance away at Shoppingtown does the same thing as well as being a significant traffic generator in its own right & has much more parking. If anything the P&R is a good example of the pointlessness of parking and supports bus routes for capacity
@MelbOnTransit I would question anyone who describes the Doncaster Park and Ride as successful. It has relatively few car parking spaces that contribute little to filling buses. It's main success is as a public transport interchange between local and freeway buses. However...
@SeptJoy@OiOldboy@lorraine_fevre@petsam8 Thanks, I just feel really sad for those who will be disadvantaged by this situation through no fault of their own. I sincerely hope GDV can move past this and refocus on their core purpose as they should have been doing all along given the good work they do for people like you.
@wisedoogs@RacingPedigrees@MSMWatchdog2013@petsam8 Given how it has blown up, she is more than welcome to make a statement clarifying her involvement. For some reason it doesn't seem to have happened despite the board of GDV having made one. Draw your own conclusions.
@OiOldboy@lorraine_fevre@petsam8 Personally I'd prefer a charity that is focused on what should be it's core purpose of helping blind people. But I accept others may prefer their dollars do double duty for both the charity and getting their preferred political candidate elected despite the governance risks.
@OiOldboy@lorraine_fevre@petsam8 Ok, so I can support an apolitical charity who focuses ๐ฏ on giving guide dogs to blind people or I can support a charity who splits attention between guide dogs and political affiliation, and risks corporate governance issues as others have pointed out. Which should I pick?
@No1MachopFanVGC@danielbowen I think the difference between not being able to build your way out of congestion with railways compared to road is that railways are a lot more efficient per "lane". If additional railway lanes induce demand such that it too becomes overwhelmed, roads aren't the solution & you..
@eaglesbirdies@LoclanMac @Xtrackka @arfman@MelbOnTransit Agree about reducing unnecessary risk from COVID, but I wonder what the comparison of risk would be compared to being in a car accident, especially with increased car use from people avoiding PT? People are known to poorly assess comparative risk so actual data wld be interesting
@dwilliamson931@MelbOnTransit If the gov't free cash doesn't include the rego and insurance, they can stick it as I can't afford another $3000 a year. /s
On a serious note, maybe you should visit the real world. You clearly aren't a parent in the outer burbs else you wouldn't post such nonsense.
@dwilliamson931@MelbOnTransit As a single parent in the outer northern burbs, I'd love to know where to apply for my extra cars. I currently have just a 2017 Trax. Does this money the gov't will throw at me include the rego and insurance? For my Trax it's about $1500 and the other cars won't fit in my garage
@andyjennings@MelbOnTransit Noting of course the 548 doesn't even get to the next railway line south, and the 609 has one service each day make it to Hawthorn. That was arguably the biggest lost opportunity with not implementing the bus review suggestions joining it to 567 to create a cross suburban route.
@andyjennings@MelbOnTransit It is odd how on Sunday the only PTV services crossing the Yarra in the eastern suburbs are Hoddle St Collingwood, Banksia St Heidelberg, Fitzsimmons Lane Templestowe, and Warrandyte! Even the rest of the week only adds Burke Rd Kew and Chandler Hwy with most going to the city.
@JasonEvans_@wendy_harmer You can! During the year, one chain has "fruit buns" in their bakery section at least some of the time which were obviously hot cross buns with an uncontroversial name, based on personal taste testing.
@Omegaville@jxeeno As a secondary student, I attended Watsonia High which was located in Greensborough. When it merged with the tech school up the road to become Greensborough Secondary College, it moved to their campus - which was in Watsonia!
@megsymegs@watashiwajei@AlboMP@sallycapp Pedantically only since 1986 when the 96 was extended along the former St Kilda rail line, and the 111 from Bourke St and along the former Port Melbourne line. Presumably light rail sounded better than tram when trying to sell the rail line closures...
