@POLREWK0M The majority of Finnish people supported joining NATO and the decision to join has nothing to do with the welfare cuts the government is doing
@FinnrodFinn I like to think and research and write, which I'm sure you can relate to. My ability to think deeper things is a big part of my identity. What's in it for me to give that up to follow a man? I'm sure you wouldn't want to give it up either.
@FinnrodFinn That's true that they were prepared. But the problem is that a culture like that is not an appealing option to me. I find my life now fulfilling. I love that I get to study what I'm passionate about, work in that same field, a happy relationship and hopefully have children
@FinnrodFinn What is written and said about women and their role doesn't speak to me. Those texts hardly ever feel like they are touching my soul in any way, it is more like a list of rules on what you're not allowed to do, while men get to be fully people.
@FinnrodFinn I'm going off-topic now already but personally I'm in an unsure place with my beliefs, I used to believe but I'm not sure anymore. I think one reason is that especially more conservative Christianity isn't appealing as a woman.
@FinnrodFinn But in that sense you're right that modern women and women in the past are similar. I think if we took modern contraception to the past, many women would be excited for it. I don't think they were that different at heart, they just didn't have the same options.
@FinnrodFinn Many foremothers possibly found it terrifying too, maybe even more so than now since it was more common to die in childbirth. They just didn't have as many other options as today.
@FinnrodFinn That's kind of what I meant when I said that many men don't understand how terrifying it can be. It's a dismissive response that that's what people always did before. Ofc I know that is true, but I'm still me and I'm an individual with my own feelings and fears.
@FinnrodFinn Hmm that's tricky then, not many Catholics here. Somebody already said this, but marriage & wanting a baby aren't guarantees that you want babies all the time. It can still be terrifying if you're not ready for another baby. But how many men are okay with no sex for years?
@FinnrodFinn As a Finnish woman I'm really happy it is not seen that way here. I don't think men understand how terrifying the idea of pregnancy can be, when at the same time they're usually the ones lusting for sex the most. But maybe you should look into Catholic countries.
It's all Finland Hitler particles this Hitler particles that. But what's the end goal? We build a time machine and lose even harder? I don't understand.
When some people here hate Finland for having collaborated with Nazis in WW2, I don't get what they expect us to do about it now. They're more ready to forgive Germany for being the Nazis than us for collaborating. Finland was the only one that paid its war reparations in full.
Afterwards we had a good functional relationship with USSR & then Russia until their attack on Ukraine. Current Finland is less fascist than current Russia (lgbt rights, suppression of press & political opposition, cult of personality around Putin).
@prestoninperson@Y40IFRQTTING I mean makes sense, that's been most people throughout history. Agriculture is the main profession globally. But there is value in the history of the average person, not just the rich and the royals lol.
@annat_9@kaitybella You don't need approval from a random person online. You can just do what you want without needing to be the exception to that persons opinion.
