Through tears, her grandfather, Sayyed Mohammad Reza Golpayegani, remembered her as Sayyed Khamenei’s "bundle of joy" and "source of happiness," recalling how he would always ask about little Zahraa and smile at her mischievous spirit.

"Look at her carefully," he says, adding, "What sin did she commit? She was an angel."

As he recites the Quranic verse, "And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked, for what sin she was killed," his words leave one haunting question: What was her crime?
