I grew up on the movie and decided to read the book over the summer. It is very different from the movie and has more of a fairy tale like element. Very whimsical and such a cute story. Some elements weren’t as dark as the movie and some were darker.

A SOLID ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I loved this book! Very well written and the prose was beautiful. I can definitely understand why some people would not enjoy this book as it can get wordy and it’s not a book full of action, however it was bittersweet. In my opinion the ending was fitting.
