Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill appears to be on a weird crusade against President Trump's energy dominance agenda. Why would this red state AG want to interfere with domestic energy production at a time like this?

Her claim, for example, that energy companies have dumped 4 BILLION gallons of “toxic waste” into Louisiana sounds appalling. Well, until you learn what she’s actually talking about.

I've looked into a lot of this. And it looks like the "toxic waste" she's talking about is mostly produced water, which is salty underground water that naturally comes up with oil and gas and has to be separated from it.

Another rather important point is that Louisiana has already REGULATED AND PERMITTED this. U.S. federal regulators had oversight aswell.

Murrill says these particular discharges caused a specific portion of Louisiana’s coastal erosion, but hasn't offered any serious evidence on the matter.

Just calling it “toxic waste” does nothing to resolve any issues. It is both hyperbolic and irresponsible.

We're in a political period where energy creation and independence matter. Why isn't she acting like it?

The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public. 

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
