@SwiftOnSecurity I’ve found that screenings tests like a “flashlight help desk” test - asking candidates to troubleshoot a basic household product and seeing how they handle dead-ends and adversity - can do a great job finding problem solving ability. (Harder now that cell phone = flashlight)

The Twitter engineers standing up to Elon and getting summarily fired ("speech is free") are likely those with the skill/ability to get another job quickly, while the less assured keep their heads down. I suspect Elon is about to discover the Dead Sea Effect is a very real.

@LauraLeslieWRAL Thank you for saying this. In 2020 I watched the Elections site as Biden had a big blue lead in early results that evaporated as day-of Trump voters were counted. Inverse of PA, WI etc. No one cried fraud, appropriately. Every state should do this.

@mhdksafa My Episcopalian secondary school had a space Muslim students could use for prayers and brought an imam and a rabbi in once a year for services. In the 90s! It was a powerful experience.

I was a hyperlocal journalist for several years. Won several awards for it. But I trust the ‘media elites’ because they are paid to do a job and held accountable by their employers, and the general public, if they fail. Democracy depends on the NYT not the Babylon Bee.

@gldivittorio Yep. Legroom, assigned seat, beverages, quieter car. I agree with the comment about not doing first on Acela. My reference is a 3 hour ride across NC and a 6 hour ride Durham-DC
