उसने अपना पूरा एक साल खो दिया, दिन-रात मेहनत की और अगले साल और मजबूत वापसी करते हुए AIR 53 हासिल की। इसके बावजूद उसे अपने सपनों के कॉलेज IIT Madras में दाखिला नहीं मिल सका।

ज़रा उन कटऑफ्स को देखिए—किसी आरक्षित वर्ग के छात्र को 10,000 के आसपास की रैंक पर भी सीट मिल सकती है, जबकि कहीं अधिक प्रतिभाशाली और मेहनती छात्र को वर्षों का नुकसान उठाना पड़ सकता है। यह व्यवस्था कितनी उचित है, इस पर गंभीरता से विचार होना चाहिए।

अगर भारत को विकसित राष्ट्र बनना है, तो योग्यता और उत्कृष्टता को अधिक प्राथमिकता देनी होगी। हम प्रतिभाशाली छात्रों के वर्षों को बर्बाद नहीं कर सकते।
योग्यता की जीत होनी चाहिए।
