The tragedy of the African elite is that they conflate China's engineering capacity at home with its intentions abroad.

When Uganda hands over a multimillion dollar infrastructure project to Beijing, they do so under the naive delusion that they are buying the same world class efficiency seen in Shanghai or Shenzhen.

Here, it is strictly a game of unmitigated profit.

It is a cynical exercise in cutting corners, leveraging substandard materials, and deploying subpar construction techniques to maximize their margins.

They know our corrupt systems will never hold them to account, so they give us infrastructure built to expire before the loans are even repaid.

Northerners have traded in produce sale in Mile 12 market for generations without building any ethnic wall around their 'control' of the market.

Even though they bring the food stuff, their operations recognize the Yoruba origin of the market & their hosts.

Nigerians from all ethnic & religious backgrounds freely to operate in the market.

The same is usually not the same in markers that are dominated by Igbos in Lagos. The primary objective always seemed to be get rid of everyone else until they have absolute control.

There are lessons we can learn from one another and this is one of them.
