Translation meeting takeaway:
Koyasan's monks euphemistically referred to beer as 麦般若 "wisdom barley" and to sake as 般若湯 "wisdom water".
Isn't that beautiful! And all of that came out of a discussion on "bacon gold" (registration fees) and "mountain whales" (wild boars)!
