🚨 The PVS Lucas Wendt Story
Years ago, There were not many people void of having the last name “Wendt” that believed young Lucas Wendt would end up playing college baseball. But this week he signed to play for @BaseballSVC.
Lucas’s journey is a testament to a young player, sticking with it, trusting a plan.. & never putting a fork 🍴🍽️ down.
Lucas came to us after being released from a travel team for probably not being good enough to play on the team. But the org was happy to take the family’s money. “Family” is often on that organization’s T-shirts but it’s anything but a family. So in 2021 we put him on our Cobra team. We were very clear about what was the most important thing to his Baseball future: putting on size & power. He and the mother took it to heart. Lucas began to eat, work on coordination, power and speed. The coordination and athleticism were slow to come. But day by day / week by week- both grew. And that wasn’t the only thing. One day we got a text message from his mother Dawn (A South Park Educator) . It was May 23, 2022. She had sent us a report from Lucas’ primary care physician. Lucas gained 51 pounds in 14 months. He shot from the 20th percentile to the 75th. She famously asked “can I stop feeding him now” to which we replied: nope.
Coach B was friendly with some of those in the South Park community who didn’t have wonderful things to say about Lucas‘s prospects as a baseball player. Coach B would respond: “just wait.” One of the best parts about Coach B is that he doesn’t make up his mind about kids at 10 or 12 years old like too many adults do. He waits to see what you’re made of and what you can handle in the gym before he decides what your potential is. And Lucas earned that faith B had in him. He determined Lucas had potential because we he was willing to work.
But Lucas’s work is not limited to the weight room in the PVS Lab. He’s a high academic go-getter. He works a few jobs & he has played on one South Park team or another every year since he’s been here. Think about the executive skills one must have to balance all of that? People forget that playing sports should be a metaphor for life. Lucas has proved to himself and everyone that cares about him that he can overcome long odds by consistently working hard.
Lucas is a fine example of the following: No one gets to write your story but you.
Congrats Lucas and family!!!!
Taking away time via giving the athlete something to do (clap 👏 etc) can be a valuable way to reach timing

@willculex@RealEmirHan They should do that now and secure digital rights to the original cast and put someone who actually loves the franchise in charge.

@seanfrank I’m not giving up owning my car. My car has my stuff in it, and just as importantly every driverless shared car will be a crap shoot in terms of what the rest previous passenger did in there.
