Despite his strong objections, this week for #MemberMonday, we're recognizing our fearless leader, Stephen Acquario!
This month marks 20 years of service to counties as the executive director of our association, and makes Stephen the longest-serving ED in NYSAC's 100-year history!
Stephen joined NYSAC in 1989, rose to legislative director and general counsel before being appointed as executive director in December of 2004.
During his 20 years of service, he has led our association as it delivered numerous legislative victories for counties, including a cap on local Medicaid costs, sharing of internet sales tax revenue, billions in direct Covid recovery aid to counties, and an historic opioid settlement, just to name a few.
On behalf of the NYSAC staff, congratulations on this incredible milestone and thank you for your leadership and unrelenting commitment to strengthening the counties of New York!
