Class made thank you cards for veterans❤️ if they went to parade, I asked them to get to a veteran. One parent shared there were tears in his eyes when he got it❤️

Children who are read to at home start school better prepared to learn. Those raised only on screens start school expecting to be entertained.

Just because some teachers would rather stay in the classroom than go into administration doesn’t mean they aren’t leaders. Many have amazing talents which can benefit a school.Good leaders value them as experts and help maximize their talents and potential.

Student project - Blessing Bags for people in need❤️ Necessities like socks, cap , gloves and toothbrush and paste. Students shared their bags with less fortunate and their ❤️’s were full! Proud teacher❤️ @mrs_lophillips @DavidShimer1 @BurtonSchools

When I am asked my number one piece of advice for an administrator, it is simply to take care of your staff. A culture of care, support, appreciation, and encouragement is a culture when everyone can thrive. The teacher's work environment is the student's learning environment.

You can tell a lot about a school's culture by walking through a school. Observe the office staff, custodians & staff/faculty in the hall, their demeanor & interactions with other staff & students. You can't fake a dynamic school culture. It is palpable!

We have become so focused on preparing students for adulthood, that we forget to help them succeed in childhood first, so they can succeed as adults.
