First grade is investigating insects and using their knowledge of shape along with their observational drawing skills to draw what they see! #elemart@LehighElemNASD

First grade learned how to mix primary and secondary colors, then looked at Louise Nevelson’s sculptures and used found objects to stamp on top to create abstract art! @LehighElemNASD
Dress as a career at Lehigh yesterday - so much fun seeing the students and staff dress up! Taylor and I were both artists/art teachers! @LehighElemNASD
March is @PaArtEd’s Youth Art Month! Congrats to Harper, Courtney, and Lena who are representing Lehigh in the Pennsylvania Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month art show! @LehighElemNASD
Kindergarten has been learning about primary and secondary colors and how to mix colors, inspired by the book, “Mouse Paint.” They mixed their own colors and then sculpted their own mice, or creatures, using Model Magic! @LehighElemNASD
2nd grade artists have been creating art around the theme of food, inspired by artists Wayne Thiebaud and Peter Anton. Here we looked at Thiebaud’s art, and students described what made his sweets 3-D. They learned to use shadows and color to make their work pop! @LehighElemNASD
Kindergarten explored an entire art unit about owls that included drawing and clay! Here are Ms. Burger’s students with their finished ceramic owls showing texture, color, and their sculpting skills! @LehighElemNASD
Second grade learned about food sculpture artist, Peter Anton, and then created their own donuts out of clay. They learned how to use some clay techniques in their design: pinch pot, coil, score & slip. Can’t wait to see them painted! @LehighElemNASD
Third grade created monsters using fiber supplies. They learned how to stitch and use their creative minds to design their own monster that represents an emotion/feeling, based upon the book, “The Color Monster” by Anna Llenas. Awesome job, artists! @LehighElemNASD
Last week, on our Remote Learning Day, students were able to pick an option for creating art on a choice board. Lena in 3rd grade chose to set up a still life, and created a beautiful drawing that is neat and colorful. You go girl! @LehighElemNASD
4th grade artists have been learning about optical illusions, after exploring Bridget Riley & Victor Vasarely’s work. Their goal was to create an illusion that was neat and incorporated value @LehighElemNASD
2nd grade artists have been working hard learning how to weave. We talked about how artists create weavings that people can use, and then we talked about our love for pets! Students drew their own animal sleeping on their “woven” mat! @LehighElemNASD
Fifth grade artists worked hard all first trimester to create their own plaster mask; they were challenged to use a theme(s), 3D elements, and tints/shades of color, inspired by artist Nick Cave. They can finally be displayed! @LehighElemNASD
Kindergarten has been learning about lines and sculpture in art, so naturally they are creating their own! These are turning out awesome so far! @LehighElemNASD
Third grade discussed artist, James Rizzi’s work, and then created their own imaginary cities. Their goals were to utilize warm or cool colors in the sky with chalk pastel, add creative details to the buildings, and neatly add color. Way to go, artists! @LehighElemNASD
First grade explored insects this past week! After discussing their personal knowledge, we read “The Very Lonely Firefly” by Eric Carle, and then drew insects using our observational drawing skills! Mrs. Sugra’s class did an awesome job! @LehighElemNASD
Kindergarten read “Robots, Robots Everywhere” and has been working hard creating their own robots using their knowledge of lines and shapes. Their sweet drawings make me smile! @LehighElemNASD
5th grade learned about sculptural artist Nick Cave, brainstormed ideas about themselves, and sketched an idea for a mask relating to themselves. Now they are in the sculpting stages, using plaster gauze strips. Keep up the awesome work! @LehighElemNASD
“Make a mark and see where it takes you.” - “The Dot,” by Peter Reynolds. @LehighElemNASD has officially celebrated and made their mark utilizing lines, shapes, and colors in art! @peterhreynolds #internationaldotday
