Tough to put into words how proud of this I am quite honestly. Thank you for really LISTENING to the message. This guy made me a better coach and allowed me to really be confident in my process as a young coach trying to make an impression on young ballplayers. Congrats my man 👊🏼
Pitching, in its most general sense, is the disruption of a hitter's timing.
Inducing weak contact, or swings and misses, is the goal.
Greg Maddux told me one time, during my first WBC when he was the @WBCBaseball@USABaseball pitching coach, that every pitch he delivered was thrown with the "intent" to get the hitter out.
Intent is the key word here.
As a pitcher, or catcher, what is your intent?
Not spin rate, or any analytical number.
Intent.

Outstanding outing from @HppTigers Byron's Nate Petropoulos (@NatePetropoulos) on the mound. The RHP went all 8 innings picking up 4Ks and only allowed one earned run.

I can promise this one is going to continue to climb. Makeup beyond his years, dedicated to his craft, and someone who raises the bar for every pitcher who walks into our building in terms of what the standard is both on and off the field.
Here's a good look @HppTigers Byron’s Max Nantais-Vlahovich (@maxnv50) on the mound in the #MattinglyWS. The RHP was dominant through his 5 innings of work allowing only 2 earned runs while racking up 10 strikeouts.

If you throw mid 9s and have thrown under 20 college innings at your mid major (or a “lower level”), the answer is not the transfer portal. The answer is learn how to pitch.
Don’t be surprised when this kid becomes an absolute player at the next level. One of the ones you love putting on the same jersey as. Super competitor with a high motor! Go get him!!

Didn’t take a hitter off. Gas pedal for 7 innings with his best stuff in the zone when he needed to be, and out of the zone when he wanted to be. Great job JT

Deep contact point Shohei:
Ohtani made contact with his HR last night 12.4 inches behind the front of the plate, and only 16.8 inches in front of his own center of mass
He still hit it out 108.9 mph to the opposite field
GIRD or Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit is often blamed for injury.
Determining whether it’s actually part of the problem requires looking at the full picture.
You need to determine if it’s functional or pathological 🧵

Elite SS, will hit at the top of the order. Has ability to hit for high avg & pop at a premier position. Ass Kicker, Leader - Id take 30 of him if I could!

Yes! Nikolai Bernstein first proved this principle in the 1920s. The most elite movers or those with the higher level of skills take different paths yet have greater accuracy in performance. It’s not the ability ti repeat, it’s the ability to feel the difference in reps & adjust.
The first thing every young player should prioritize is getting stronger and faster. 99% of players will never have the chance to gain MLB caliber skills because they’ll never develop MLB caliber strength and speed. The smaller you are, the more you need ELITE athleticism.
Brian Garman, a very highly regarded pitching coach in the #Reds organization who has coached at Dayton for several years, has been promoted to minor league pitching coordinator.
Bryan Conger remains as the senior pitching coordinator.
