Meet the Philippine #tarsier, a small primate endemic to the #Philippines.
The family of tarsiers (Tarsiidae) used to be a widespread primate throughout the rainforests of southeast Asia, however habitat loss and poaching for the pet trade have drastically dwindled their range.
In Photo #3, you can see evidence of a Wolverine ripping apart a beaver lodge in search of a meal! In addition to looking for Wolverine den sites, we flew by lots of other wildlife, like a #GreyWolf (Photo #4).
I got the opportunity to assist in #Wolverine den surveys in northern Ontario via helicopter. Wolverines, a #SpeciesAtRisk in Ontario, are a shy species that are hard to spot in the wild! They are opportunistic eaters, which was helpful in tracking where they were.
A few weeks ago, got the opportunity to support research and environmental monitoring efforts in the Nibinamik First Nation. Great experience collaborating!
@GusPark11@BornJa21@PlantsandPups@christopherhale When it comes to vaccine access, you are correct many countries do not have the same privileges as wealthy countries. But for those of us in wealthy countries who have no medical contraindications to vaccines, you are saying no to the most powerful tool to end this pandemic!
@GusPark11@BornJa21@PlantsandPups@christopherhale Do you wear a seat belt even though it is not 100% effective in preventing death? Would you put a helmet on a child riding a bike even though it is not 100% effective in reducing head injury? Why does does something have to be 100% effective?
@PlantsandPups@christopherhale That assumption was never implied in the OP. In OP, infection/spread of Covid-19 = car accident. CHOOSING to run a red = choosing no vax. Both INCREASE risk and endangerment of others around you. There is no one that says vaccines (and stopping at red lights) eliminate risk 100%.
Mitigating these impacts (i.e. installing eco-culverts) are essential to ensuring healthy numbers of the species returns to Ontario! (4/4) #endangeredspecies
Happy #EarthDay
In the Spring, salamanders emerge from the ground to migrate to their vernal ponds to breed. We spent evenings monitoring salamanders crossing eco-culverts that were installed to allow them to safely cross roadways. (1/4)
The Jefferson salamander complex (Photo 1) are currently listed as Endangered in Ontario, and are threatened by development and urbanization, which reduces and fragments wetland and forest habitat. (3/4)
Dr. Samir Gupta explains how the four COVID-19 vaccines now approved in Canada work and why efficacy rates arenβt the most important number to look at.
It was likely a worse day for the 8 people he killed... law enforcement's dismissal of the racist and misogynistic motives in the attack. #StopAsianHate
"Yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did" -- a law enforcement official explains Robert Aaron Long's decision to kill 8 people in a strange manner
"...populations of migratory fish have fallen by three-quarters in the last 50 years.
Over the same time period, populations of larger species, known as "megafish", have crashed by 94%."
