"I went to the hospital when I passed a dinner plate-sized clot of blood at home… the doctors are very clear this will progress to being life-threatening — But when exactly I am dying, that's not as easy a call to make, and they shouldn’t have to make it…"
— Avery Davis Bell shares her harrowing miscarriage story and why Georgia's abortion ban put her life at risk
As a doctor whose wife experienced 4 miscarriages amongst the 3, now healthy adult children we have raised, I can’t stop thinking about @JDVance’s answers on abortion during the VP debate. Here is the problem with his and Trump’s “leave it to the states” approach. 1/13
"While the State’s interest in protecting “unborn” life is compelling, until that life can be sustained by the State -- and not solely by the woman compelled by the Act to do the State’s work -- the balance of rights favors the woman." 2/
Sen. Ossoff: “What we’ve heard from OBGYNs in these hearings is that, first of all, OBGYNs are deterred from training and practicing in Georgia by the threat of criminal prosecution, worsening our state’s OBGYN shortage. Second of all, this law is putting women’s lives at risk.”
Hadley Duvall: I will ask people, 'Could you sit down with me one-on-one and listen to every detail of trauma that I had to experience for about ten years?' If you can't do that, you should not feel comfortable walking into a voting booth and voting for a man who has the audacity to tell me what to do with that trauma. Look at your daughters. Your mothers. Your sisters
I really believe Democrats should be telling voters what exactly Trump is talking about when he says `post birth abortion` - because it’s so much worse than it sounds.
Let's be really clear here: When conservatives say that states allow 'post birth abortion' what they're actually talking about is palliative care for fatally ill newborns.
@austinlouisray I understand the staffing issues after school starts but closing the public pools in August in GEORGIA is just infuriating. That’s why people fork over $$ for memberships - so they can actually swim!
@austinlouisray It’s a grift but they get away with it bc the alternatives suck - COA pools don’t open till 12:30pm (ask a parent of a toddler when they most want to be able to swim), are closed 2 days/week plus CLOSED June 19 & July 4 (!!!) and close FOR THE SEASON July 31.
@Incoqueue@prochoice_trash@notcapnamerica 🙌🏻 I wish more people understood this - inducing delivery of a non-viable fetus is ALSO ILLEGAL in any state where abortion is banned. Because it is terminating a pregnancy, which is an ABORTION.
4 years ago today, Trump during his one of his covid disaster-pressers made his infamous, bonkers statement about "disinfectant" via "injection inside" being a miracle cure. But here are a couple other moments from that event you may have forgotten. (🧵) https://t.co/B6xmHFiQ9a
@0liviajulianna One of my friends summed it up on the group text the morning after: I feel like I’ve just been dumped by the United States. We knew. Later in the term, it seemed like maybe his utter incompetence would save us - if only RBG could have hung on another couple of months…
