The Arctic Ocean meets the shore just east of Nuvuk, the northernmost point in the USA, on Nov. 1, 2021. Nuvuk is 9 miles northeast of Utqiaġvik, Alaska. Archaeological evidence indicates that the site was occupied about 1,500 years before the arrival of the first Europeans.
