One thing I’ve learned having 4 kids and holding many kids cooking classes: if the kids cook it themselves, they will always eat it. If we want kids to expand their palates, they need to cook more. If this was done with school food, where a class was established to help cook and prep, I bet we could get kids to eat better food in the school system (and learn some life skills).

On the one hand, DC crime is down along with the rest of the nation.

On the other hand, DC crime is so high that even with the big drop of the last couple years, it is still embarassingly high, and this is our capitol city. The homicide rate last year was 27.3 per 100,000, around 5x the national rate.

I'm not sure a policing surge can fix decades of dysfunction, but we'll see.
