We studied how kids (7–11) and their caregivers produce speech reductions in everyday interactions.

This suggests that by middle childhood, kids mirror adults in some reduction strategies, but mastering the more subtle, phonetic reductions requires advanced motor + linguistic control.

A small step toward understanding how children sound more “adult-like” in natural speech.

Key points:

Children already use lexicalized reductions (e.g. shortened forms stored in the lexicon) at rates similar to adults.

But more complex non-lexicalized reductions (emerging from fast, fluid articulation) are rare in children, reflecting ongoing development.

@baharcan26 @raskolibov Gelinlik gelin olacak kişi ne giymeyi tercih ediyorsa odur. Altı üstü bir elbise zaten. Her gün yeni bir kural çıkarmayın. Gayet de yakıştırmıs, aksesuarlarıyla tamamlamış.. ben günlük hayatında böyle elbise giyen birini görmedim ayrıca 😂
