A little secret for building tight teams.
I often get asked about what’s the best way to build tight/strong teams. So, here is a little counter-intuitive “secret” on how to do that.
It’s not fancy team building dinners, outings, etc.
It’s not the coaching exercises, mentors or magical shrinks.
It’s not the rah rah speeches of inspirational leaders.
All of the above helps but fades over time, but the secret is just … some external pressure.
Imagine if there are aliens “visiting” Earth now, all the issues between the US and China would disappear in a heartbeat. Make sense?
In the movie Blackhawk Down, when an old soldier was asked why he risked his life in battles all the time, his answer was (roughly): it’s not the glory or heroism, those things go out of the window as soon as that first bullet flies by your head; it’s just about … the men next to you.
While I am not suggesting the pressure needs to be life-threatening, fighting in the trenches together is the best way to build tight teams. It builds reliance, alliance, resilience and most importantly trust between the team members.
I believe this is the one of the big reasons @Binance has such a tight team. We have always had external pressure, FUD, etc. As a result, we are constantly in the trenches together. It also unites our community behind us, making them/you support us even more. This in turn makes us more determined to drive towards our mission, to increase the freedom of money for people all around the world.
And, it’s worth noting that while pressure creates tight teams internally, I’m equally focused on the collaboration and cooperation that creates trust externally.
In the landscape of social networks, each platform offers a unique experience, yet not all manage to serve our interests best. Instagram, with its endless stream of carefully curated highlight reels, often leaves us with a sense of lacking, stirring up a desire for lives we don’t lead. Facebook, despite its wide reach, tends to resonate more with older generations, and its occasional censorship has raised concerns about freedom of speech. Tik Tok, while entertaining, often feels like an endless loop that consumes our precious minutes with ephemeral content.
Twitter, on the other hand, stands apart. It is the digital town square of our era, a pulsating hub for free speech and live updates. It’s the place where conversations unfold in real time, where thoughts are shared, dissected, and debated. It’s a platform where truth can be sought amidst diverse viewpoints, providing a broader perspective on the world.
The key performance indicator for Twitter isn’t likes or shares - it’s time well spent. Each moment you invest in Twitter can yield insights, spark ideas, or connect you to a larger conversation & people from across the globe. It is not just a platform, it’s an ongoing dialogue, a dynamic exchange of ideas, and a collective quest for understanding.
I believe Twitter holds the promise of such a future - a place where every voice matters, where every minute spent leads to real growth, adds value to our lives, promotes dialogue, and champions freedom of speech.
Right now, Twitter > Threads
I dont see the upside unless there are massive advantages on the Threads app
It's not a new concept like TikTok was when it came out
We'll all create an account there, but most of us are far too lazy to bounce between multiple thread apps
See you all on Twitter tomorrow
