Today, we are launching the nationwide #PradhanGoBack campaign.
We request all students, parents, teachers, farmers’ unions, and members of civil society to join us in large numbers at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, 28 June, to demand the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
“If my Pradeep were a minister’s son, the whole system would’ve been shaken. But the government is turning a blind eye as he’s a poor man’s son,” said Rajesh Meghwal, father of Pradeep Meghwal, a 22-year-old NEET aspirant who d!ed by su!cide. Report from CJP’s Jaipur protest.
Open Letter to PM:
We urge PM @narendramodi to provide ₹1 crore in compensation to the families of students who died by suicide due to the paper leak crisis.
300,000 people die from drowning, so we ban water.
But we do not talk about the billions of people who drink water safely every single day.
This is the same logic governments use with technology bans.
Telegram was "misused", so ban it for 150 million people.
* VPNs help criminals, so ban privacy for everyone.
* Social media spreads misinformation, so ban free speech.
* One bad use case is reason enough to control what 150 million people can access.
We treat citizens like babies. As if we cannot be trusted to make our own decisions.
As if the solution to a problem is always to remove the tool rather than fix the actual problem.
Someone leaked exam papers on Telegram.
Did they arrest the corrupt official who sold it? No.
They banned Telegram.
Someone used a VPN for illegal activity. Did they prosecute the person? No.
They banned VPNs.
Someone spread fake news on Facebook. Did they ban misinformation? No.
They banned free speech.
The pattern is always the same. Find a problem. Blame the technology. Ban the tool. Problem solved? No.
But control is tighter now.
The real solution is hard. Banning is easy.
And governments love it easy.
Over 300,000 people die of drowning each year. In order to protect society, it is now illegal to consume or possess water.
Your government is also considering banning solid food, as it presents a needless choking hazard.
You are not an adult.
You are a baby.
Eat the baby food.
"You are maligning the character of the nation by saying Muslims are not safe in India" says @KirenRijiju
Here one of many such incidents from India. A Bajrang Dal goon Ganesh Vanzara and his associates from Naroda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, intimidating a Muslim migrant from Uttar Pradesh and ordering him to vacate his rented home in a predominantly Hindu locality. Those present can be seen cheering and celebrating the act.
The accused is himself proudly sharing this video on his Instagram account because he very well knows, Police will take no action against him. Home Minister @sanghaviharsh will not ask police to take action against the goons. Such acts of intimidation have become so normalized that even Media doesn't bother to highlight these incidents. Local Politicians don't want to comment on such issues as it will hurt their vote bank.
Sorry @KirenRijiju, If I have maligned the Nation by highlighting the fact.
Hello @dpradhanbjp ji,
Your children have studied abroad.
Meanwhile, parents in India are paying lakhs of rupees in private school fees. Your government neither provides subsidies nor any tax benefits for their education.
So who are you to decide which subjects parents should choose for their children?
Just like you, every parents should be allowed to decide for their children future.
If you want to experiment with language policies, do it in government schools.
Parents paying from their own pockets should have the freedom to decide what is best for their children.
NEET: 22 lakh students affected
CBSE: 17 lakh students affected
CUET (UG): 16 lakh students affected
That’s 55 lakh students in distress.
Is one incompetent Education Minister more important than 55 lakh students? Why is the Prime Minister not sacking him?
