@ntvkenya While Kenya is a nation founded on freedom of worship and religious tolerance, the Constitution of Kenya 2010 is unequivocal in Article 8, which states:There shall be no State religion.”
This provision was enshrined to guarantee religious neutrality.
@Itumbi_Denis As a committed Kenyan citizen and a practicing Christian, I wish to express deep concern regarding the ongoing trend of promoting Christianity within State House, particularly the construction or institutionalization of church activities at the seat of the presidency.
They track you, abduct you and kill you. Then they place the body of a campus girl next to you. They leak the story to the media with a headline KIONGOZI FOUND DEAD IN SUSPECT LOVE AFFAIR. They summon your wife to record a statement as a prime suspect in your murder. Johansen Oduor cooks the autopsy. Your family is embarrassed because they think you died in the shame of adultery. They bury you quickly. And just like that they kill your memory and erase any good work you did. Print this tweet and keep it somewhere.
It tears my heart to say that my father, Ngugi Wa Thiong'o passed away earlier today. I am me because of him in so many ways, as his child, scholar and writer. I love him - I am not sure what tomorrow will bring without him here. I think that is all I have to say for now.
