I have missed hearing him speak — the frankness with which he does so is refreshing, when most politicians speak in half truths & lies.

Acknowledging the elephant in the room, factional politics led by RN, & the lasting impact it has had on the hearts of members & the soul of the party & the way the public perceives MDP as well. How one man’s ego has ripped shattered the hopes of many.

Looking onward, tough as it may be, Faya is right on the score that waiting for an apology that will never come, closure for those who suffered through it all is not going to help steer the ship to shore.

Instead, shaping the future of the party through initiatives such as a think tank in the works, establishing an institution to impart & promote knowledge on democracy and good governance towards building new party leaders, and ensuring that the party’s history and legacy remains strong; educating newer generations on the sacrifices made, not just by MDP members, but the general public, on the road towards freedom, rights, and democratic governance, is the path to choose.

A bitter pill to swallow. But the world is seldom kind to those who have suffered.

Wishing @faya_i all the best in his political aspirations. It takes strength to step down when needed, especially in the interests of the party.

Wishing MDP, the strength to rise from its ashes & once again become a force to be reckoned with in Maldivian politics.

May Allah’s guidance be with the leadership.
