Alex Eala had kind words for Maya Joint after beating her at Wimbledon
Alex: “I really had to dig deep. Especially after the first set. Maya came out on fire. She came out ready. I was expecting a really good match. We’ve competed in some very good conditions before so I was prepared for a good match. She’s coming off an amazing win. I watched it and I think she played really well and handled herself really well in that situation. Congratulations to Maya.” ❤️
“Was it nice to get a little bit of revenge for that final in Eastbourne last year?”
Alex: “Yeah, so for those who don’t know we had an insane match last year and I lost. It hit me quite hard. I cried a lot. I don’t think I was able to watch those highlights for a couple of months. So I’m really happy. I think I improved a lot in this past year. I’m happy I’m able to look back at that loss. And I’m able to smile.” ❤️
WHAT A COMEBACK AND SWEET REVENGE of our dear Alex Eala. 😤 Pagkatapos ng Lexus Eastbourne matchup nila, she serves Maya Joint a 6-0 bagel this time sa final set. WOW! 😭🎾🇵🇭

Alex Eala making the Philippines proud as she advances to the third round at Wimbledon 🥹 🇵🇭
She became the first Filipino to advance to the third round of a Grand Slam 👏
a year ago, alex eala walked away heartbroken after that finals loss in eastbourne. one year later, she finally got the win she deserved on the biggest grass stage. so, so proud of ae! 🥹🤍
Alex Eala continues to make history for the Philippines 🇵🇭
Eala is the first Filipino player, male or female, to reach a Major third round in the Open Era 🙌
A small detail that caught my attention:
Alex Eala’s Nike Wimbledon kit carries both Globe and BPI sponsor patches.
Nike is known for being very selective about third-party branding on its tennis apparel, which makes Alex’s Globe and BPI patches particularly noteworthy. This appears to be a rare exception to Nike’s usual branding approach. For a player still early in her career, it’s another indication of Alex’s growing commercial appeal—and the confidence that major brands already have in her. 🇵🇭🎾

Iga Swiatek on facing Alex Eala next at Wimbledon:
“I don’t particularly know her game on grass. Obviously you can watch a little bit. But I know how she plays because we’ve played already. She has a tricky game. I can assume on grass that it’s even more tricky because of the surface. For sure she’s using her strengths, the change of rhythm and everything. So I will prepare and I’ll be ready. It will be a good challenge for me because she doesn’t give that rhythm. I’ll need to be ready for different kinds of shots.”
