As usual, the CDGs/akgaes seem hell-bent on attempting to steal everyone’s neurons like the parasitic zombies they are. And I’m here to prevent that from happening.

Many of you have heard about their latest uproar over the Mandarin Ducks being chosen for this year’s Qixi artwork. Their argument rests upon the claim that, in the wild, Mandarin Ducks are not strictly monogamous and may select a different mate during subsequent breeding seasons.

🔎 Yet this argument fundamentally misses the cultural context of the artwork: the Mandarin Ducks were not selected on the basis of their zoological mating behaviour. They were selected for their cultural symbolism within Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice concerned with arranging buildings, rooms, objects, and their surroundings in ways traditionally believed to cultivate harmony, balance, and auspicious energy (broadly comparable to Vāstu Śhāstra in India).

🏺 In Feng Shui, Mandarin Ducks are among the enduring symbols associated with love, harmony, fidelity, companionship, and lasting partnership. Unlike auspicious symbols that primarily represent wealth or general prosperity, a pair of Mandarin Ducks is particularly associated with romantic relationships and the cultivation of a harmonious bond.

Their symbolism developed in part from the cultural observation that Mandarin Ducks are frequently seen together. Over time, the paired ducks came to represent devotion, companionship, marital harmony, and the ideal of two people remaining together through the changing seasons of life. Consequently, the pair itself is significant: two ducks together symbolise partnership and balance, whereas a solitary duck does not carry the same traditional romantic symbolism.

Within traditional Feng Shui practice, Mandarin Duck figurines may be placed in the South-West sector of a home, traditionally associated with relationships and marriage. They may also be kept in the bedroom or another peaceful, well-maintained space. When used symbolically, the figures are commonly positioned together — side by side or facing one another — rather than separated or turned away from each other, reinforcing the imagery of mutual affection and companionship.

For couples, Mandarin Ducks can therefore function as a symbolic reminder of love, mutual respect, harmony, and companionship. For those seeking a relationship, they may represent an auspicious intention towards welcoming love and partnership. Their significance is ultimately symbolic rather than literal: they visually embody the qualities one hopes to cultivate within a relationship — devotion, balance, affection, companionship, and enduring harmony.

🔖 So no, the Mandarin Ducks appearing in this year’s Qixi artwork did not suddenly become a zoological commentary on the breeding habits of 𝘈𝘪𝘹 𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘢. Cultural symbolism operates within cultural context. One cannot selectively extract an animal’s biological behaviour from nature, disregard the artistic and cultural tradition being referenced, and then present that biological fact as a rebuttal to an entirely different symbolic meaning.

Until now, most of us were already aware of the CDGs’/akgaes’ ignorance and lack of intellectual discernment — a particularly disastrous combination in any environment. However, what is becoming increasingly difficult to overlook is their persistent attempt to distort language, literature, cultural symbolism, and context to manufacture outrage where none is warranted — a deafening indictment of their lack of education, cultural literacy, and intellectual integrity.
