Tax Audit Season 2026: Finally, It’s a Wrap! 🎉
21st October 2026 marked the end of the extended deadline for filing Tax Audit Reports for FY 2025-26.
What started in May–June has been a long and demanding journey, filled with tight timelines, multiple compliances, deadline extensions and the inevitable last-minute rush.
This year’s closure also marks the end of an era, the final Tax Audit Season under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
The next chapter begins with the Income-tax Act, 2025, ushering in a new framework of provisions, forms and compliance processes.
Beyond the deadlines and workload, this season has been a reminder of the dedication, resilience and commitment that define our profession.
A heartfelt thanks to every client for their continued trust and to all fellow professionals for their relentless efforts.
To all tax professionals, take a pause, celebrate the milestone and give yourself a well-deserved break. You’ve earned it! 🙌
But, of course, the show must go on! 😅
ROC Annual Filings and GST Audits are already waiting in line.
One deadline passes, another approaches, such is the life of a tax professional!
Cheers to everyone who made it through this season. 🥂

Dear @IncomeTaxIndia@FinMinIndia,
I filed my ITR on time, but now I’m being told to wait another 18 months for my refund!
Taxpayers face penalties for delays for single days, but who holds the government accountable for keeping citizens’ money for years?Mine has been hold for one and half year.
Is this taxpayer service or taxpayer exploitation? #IncomeTax #TaxpayerRights
📢 We need a permanent Tax Compliance 📅
31/7 – Non-Business #ITR
31/8 – Business ITR (Non-Audit)
30/11 – Tax Audit Cases
This will help #taxpayers, businesses & professionals plan better and avoid last-minute pressure.
What are your views? Any other suggestions?

Burning the midnight oil! Between portal glitches, GST-ITR reconciliations, and overlapping deadlines, extending the Tax Audit filing date from 21st Oct to 31st Oct 2026 isn't just a request—it’s necessary for thorough audits! Give CAs the time to deliver accuracy. 📊#ExtendTaxAuditDueDate #IncomeTaxIndia #CA #TaxAudit2026 #Extendtaxauditduedate
Dear @IncomeTaxIndia and @FinMinIndia,
The challenges faced by tax professionals deserve urgent attention. Audit quality, taxpayer interests and professional well-being must not be compromised by impractical timelines.
We strongly request an immediate extension of the Tax Audit Due Date.

CBDT Circular No. 07/2026 extended the Tax Audit Report filing deadline for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27 to October 21, 2026.
Dear CAs, have you completed your audit assignments?
Today is the last date for TAR filing, and there is hardly any demand for an extension.
A clear message: last month’s demand was genuine, not an excuse to avoid work.
Professionals deserve to be heard on time. We have families, festivals and responsibilities too.

🚨 GST Update | GSTR-9 for FY 2025–26
GSTN is reportedly introducing auto-population of Table 17 (HSN-wise outward supplies) in GSTR-9 using HSN details reported in Table 12 of GSTR-1.
If implemented as reported this could significantly reduce manual data entry and reconciliation efforts for GST professionals.
A welcome step towards simplifying GST compliance!
GSTR-3B cannot be revised once filed. However, a "Reset GSTR-3 B" option is available once per filing.
This "reset" option changes the status from "Submitted" to "Yet to be Filed," allowing edits to all return details.
All entries in the Electronic Liability Register will be deleted, and the ITC of the return integrated with the Electronic Credit Ledger will be reversed.
