Yesterday my 10y/o son had an idea for a product he wanted but doesnโt exist. Heโs taken it upon himself to produce said product and try and sell it online. Today heโs set up his own @shopify account and placed an order for the products all out of his pocket money.
Whatโs most apparent about this is his lightbulb moment of why his academic studies are valuable:
English for advertising and website copy
Maths for unit economics, financing
Computer science for the tech
Missing piece is psychology for the sales mechanics
Iโm having to restrain myself from offering too much help or guidance so he learns the hard way.
This is really hard as the mistakes & choices seem so glaringly apparent but maybe they lead to a better outcome
