@LawMacaw@ImposterAdam@notsoErudite There's really nothing here. Worst case scenario, 34 years ago she got a job she didn't deserve (she has a law degree but let's set that aside). There's no evidence she slept with the guy just for the job. Who else did she supposedly bang to get elected AG and then Senator?
@paulcritchlow@notsoErudite@sfdoc Just because he said he was going to pick a black woman doesn't mean he just scooped one up off the streets. The implications with the DEI thing is that she's unqualified or undeserving, but I think her resume is fine.
@austin_walker I get the first part but can't agree with the second. Seems to me that preventing a Trump (or any GOP) presidency is one of the best ways to limit the loss of Palestinian life. It feels like a shitty devil's bargain but that doesn't make it not true or rational.
@JohnathanPerk @thelooksmaxxer There's plenty of reasons for this, some of them probably sinister (white people actively trying to keep Black people out) but the majority of them are probably pretty benign (there just wasn't any compelling reason for Black people to move to some rural areas).
@B_Jones2009 @TheOmniLiberal I agree completely that he's insanely insecure, but in his defense he says "if you can't do without these things we should break up." That should be the end of it, really. If she chooses to stay in those insane conditions, she has some responsibility.
Because if I miss who they *are,* and instead focus on who they *were,* or if I try to force them to be who I once *expected them to become,* the relationship I have will no longer be with them, but w/my expectations, and my belief that they are—before they are themselves—*mine.*
what has been so instructive about this particular stupid episode is that it id a great illustration of how 99 percent of this stuff is a big racket to make money off of credulous rubes
@FilmCritHULK Put my thoughts into words almost perfectly. In some ways it's frustrating that it gets so much love because "kid's movies" don't have to be this vapid. (Like the recent Puss in Boots --it was a bit overhyped but had much more going on than Mario Bros.)
@InnuendoStudios @UnlearnEcon This still feels a little flimsy to me. People may enjoy trucking sims in the comfort of their homes when they can pause the game, go eat dinner with their family, and come back and finish a run in a couple hours. An actual cross-country long haul is a much harsher experience.
@MungPuppet@Ostrichest@No7Sammy Ok how about, "you throw/hit like a girl?" or "you gonna cry like a little girl?" These things are said specifically to men by other men who think they aren't behaving/performing in a masculine way. It's all rooted in gender, society expects men and women to be certain ways.
@MungPuppet@Ostrichest@No7Sammy I didn't say bitch. I said girly or sissy. If you call me girly or sissy you are saying "You're not acting like a man should act." You're not literally saying I'm a woman, but you are judging my performance of gender because it does not match your expectations.
@rico_rants These guys are like the people at a party always going, "I'll go dance if someone else gets it started!" Except they're not a party, they're in a Walmart and everyone else is too busy being normal to even think about dancing.
