At the #UrjaVarta2025 Technical Conference session on 'Intelligent Energy: Transforming E&P with Digital and #AI', #ONGC Director (Production) @pankajkumarONGC emphasised the urgent need for intelligent integration of voluminous data in upstream operations.
“The industry is seeking results from digitalization in the shortest possible time. In a capital-intensive sector like ours, state-of-the-art technologies are critical to accelerate outcomes. E&P involves massive data, from seismic interpretation to log analysis, and humans alone can’t process it all. That’s where AI, #machinelearning, and real-time predictive systems come in. It’s time we move from preventive to truly predictive maintenance.”
The session also explored AI-driven exploration, automation, cloud-based decision systems, and building a digital-ready E&P workforce, with global experts from @Microsoft, @Halliburton, @bakerhughesco, @exxonmobil, and @RGIPT.

Met Kristian Sorensen, CEO of BW-LPG which is the world’s leading owner and operator of LPG vessels, owning and operating Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) with a total carrying capacity of over 4 million CBM. The company is amongst the leaders in LPG shipping, accounting for ~20% of LPG imports into India.

India plans to explore and drill for hydrocarbons with a whole new momentum with exploring 2.5 lakh sq kms under OALP-Round 10. 
Interacted about ‘Oil Markets: Energy Security, Growth & Prosperity’ with a knowledgeable audience of leaders, captains and professionals of the global energy sector at the 9th OPEC International Seminar in Vienna, Austria today. 

With 2.5 lakh sqkm open for exploration under OALP Round-10, and being close to discovering a Guyana-scale oilfield in the Andaman Sea, India is in the midst of one of the most ambitious plans to enhance the efforts to drill for more and further enhance hydrocarbons exploration in the country under the dynamic leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji. India’s target is to increase the country’s exploration acreage to 0.5 million sqkm by 2025 and 1.0 million sqkm by 2030.

This ambition is supported by a series of policy reforms in including shifting from a Production Sharing Contract regime to a Revenue Sharing Model under HELP, and amendments to ORD Act 1948 to provide a robust framework for managing leases, improving safety, enabling dispute resolution, and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources in hydrocarbon projects.

This in addition to reducing ‘No-Go’ areas by 99%, thereby freeing up over 1 million sqkm for E&P, and significant investments in basin data acquisition through national projects such as the National Seismic Program (NSP), Andaman Offshore Project, Mission Anveshan, and the Extended Continental Shelf Survey, thereby laying a strong data-driven foundation for India’s upstream growth.
